Love & Harsh Words

When I woke up the next morning, I decided I would go out alone for the day. To think everything through and clear my mind. Knowing that you can see a dead person is kind of a lot to take in and it's not like you can talk to anyone about it without them thinking that you're crazy and shipping you off to the nearest mental asylum. I didn't want that to happen because I knew for sure that I wasn't crazy.

Liana had to be real because all 4 of us can see her. The others just don't know she's the Liana that was killed and I wasn't sure if they would believe me or not if I told them it was her.

I looked at the alarm clock that was placed on my right bedside table and noticed that it was just past 6am. I could barely sleep last night as my mind was cluttered with thoughts of Emily and how I thought she was different.

The boys wouldn't be up for at least another 4 hours so I got out of bed, got dressed into some comfy clothes and walked out of my room, slipping a beanie over the top of my head before walking downstairs and out towards my car.

"Good morning." Liana said suddenly as I sat in the car causing me to scream loudly.

"Shit!" I said placing a hand on my chest and feeling my heart beating a mile a minute. "Don't fucking do that."

"Sorry." She laughed, quietly.

"So where are you going?" She asked after a few minutes of us just sitting in an uncomfortable silence.

"Out." I replied vaguely, rubbing my tired eyes.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah I just," I paused sighing loudly, "I just can't get my head round the fact that you're dead. You're not supposed to be here if you're dead. You're supposed to be underground not in my car. I just don't get it. How do I know you're not lying?" I groaned, hitting the steering wheel in frustration.

"Just drive Luke," she replied causing me to look at her confused. "You'll see I'm not lying."

I did as I was told, putting the key in the ignition so the engine roared to life, music started playing quietly in the background as I reversed down the driveway.

I stared at her through the mirror as I turned to drive onto the busy road, trying to figure out how this would prove she wasn't lying.

As soon as I had turned onto the main road she had vanished from the backseat. She must have jumped out whilst I wasn't looking or something. There was no way she could just disappear.

Confused, I carried on driving through the deserted streets, occasionally seeing someone jogging or walking their cute little dogs. But most people were probably still tucked up in bed and not waking for the next couple of hours on this cold Saturday morning.

After about 20 minutes of just driving around, I parked the car in an empty car park. I stepped out of the car, readjusting me beanie, before walking down a narrow path that led me to the sandy beach.

Sand filled my converse, causing me to cringe, as soon as I stepped off of the path. I carried on walking until I came to the pier where I sat under it in my usual spot. As cliche as it sounds, this was my getaway place. Where I would come to be alone or to clear my head. Which is why I was here now.

I had bought Emily here once or twice. But she had hated it because it was too boring.

She had said something along the lines of "for god sake Luke why the fuck are we sat here, cold and bored, when we could be at a party getting drunk or even better, having sex."

"Luke?" someone said quietly, causing my head to turn to where the voice had come from.

Speak of the devil.
