I awoke to the sound of rustling.
Agatha was already awake and ready to leave.
"Get up!" She barked as though I weren't a growing teenager, "we're leaving now."
"I'm tired!" I retorted,"your dumb pendant woke me up last night remember."
I don't know why I thought it was a good idea to speak to her like that, she was older and stronger to begin with, not to mention borderline psychotic.
"Get up now or I'm leaving without you!" She said plainly, ripping the sheets of my bed.
"Hey!" I yelled, "just relax."
Bad move.
"Up now!" Agatha magicked me into the air and sent me flying across the room.
I landed with a thud against an armchair.
"Okay, okay, one sec." I said quickly scrambling to get ready.
I didn't exactly have luggage, or a bag to begin with so we were out quickly, not even bothering to pay for the night as Agatha drove away at a reckless speed.
"Do you ever pay for anything?" I asked as she ignored my grumbling.
"Why pay when you have magic," she retorted, "it's not my fault I'm superior to everyone else."
I rolled my eyes in disgust, "your not superior," I huffed, "just ignorant."
"Oh give me a break," she said, "it wasn't so easy being a witch back in my day you know, and it hasn't gotten a whole lot better."
"So?! That doesn't give you the right to walk all over people!"
"Oh you mean like your mother did?"
I went silent.
"She didn't- she's not-"
"She put a hex on a whole town Lorna, she made people suffer in the worst ways imaginable and still got all her power. She's the villain here, not me."
"No!" I started, "she didn't know what she was doing, she-"
"Oh she knew all right," Agatha said, "maybe not at first but by the end she did, and she let it all unfold. So if your going to accuse anyone of having a god complex it should be her!"
As much as it angered me I couldn't argue with Agatha. That didn't mean I agreed with her though."I thought you said you'd teach me some magic," I said in an attempt to change topics, "when's that happening?"
"When I don't fell like throwing you out of this moving vehicle." Agatha grumbled, "stop badgering me about it!"
"But you promised!" I protested.
"No," she said, "I didn't and if you don't shut up I won't."
"Please Agatha, your the only one I can learn from.
"I said later." She seethed through gritted teeth. I could tell now was not the time to be pushing her any further, so I left it. Perhaps for a time when she was in a better mood.
Something about me touching that strange pendant had her in a worse mood than usual. Maybe it was because it shows me so much about her past. I was pretty sure I'd seen the night she'd turned evil, the day she'd killed both her mother and fellow coven members, but there was something deeper than that. Something I knew deep down the witch wanted no one to see.
Perhaps it was the key to getting an upper hand, a way to hurt her perhaps.
But as I thought more about it other questions plagued me.
Say there was a way to hurt, or even kill Agatha, would I really want to do it.
I mean sure she'd done a lot of terrible things but did that make her deserving of death. Wouldn't that make me just as bad as her?
I also thought about my parents, my moms in particular. I was sure by now that she'd done some and things in the past, but that didn't change the way she'd raised me in her future. She and my dad had taught me to be compassionate and empathetic, not cruel and callous. But this was Agatha Harkness. She tried to kill Wanda and would swiftly do the same to me if she wasn't planning to use me as leverage. So what choice did I really have?
It was all pointless until I really could figure out Agathas secrets. But with the way she acted last time I stuck my nose in her business I could assume it would be a hard task.My thoughts were interrupted though when the sound of a siren filtered through the background.
"Do you hear that?" I asked.
"Ugh seriously?" Groaned Agatha looking through the rear view mirror. I turned around to see a cop car hot on our tail.
"Agatha calm down," I said, immediately aiming too diffuse the situation, "just slow down and find out what they want."
"Like hell I will." She snapped speeding faster.
"Agatha please!" I begged, "common, just stop." When she didn't I decided to take things into my own hands and stupidly grabbed the wheel.
"Are you crazy!" Agatha spat as we nearly flew into a ditch. She was forced to slow down and the cop caught up with us.
I watched anxiously as the cop got out of his car and walked towards us, he didn't seem to be in a good mood.
"One word and I'll snap his neck." Agatha warned me.
I shut my mouth and sank back into my seat as he approached the car.
