Schmidt clenched his fist and punched Steve in the face. Steve grunted in pain and Schmidt punched him again in the face than in the stomach. He collapsed, gasping for air.

"Steve!" Katie gasped, worry creasing her brow.

Steve smiled softly to himself, then looked Schmidt straight in the eyes.

"I can do this all day."

Katie nodded assuredly and glared at her cousin. "We can do this all day."

"Yes, yes, I'm sure you can, but I'm on a very tight schedule," Schmidt dismissed with a wave of his hand. He reached to his belt and pulled out a tesseract-powered gun. He aimed it at Katie. "Let's start with you."

Thunk, thunk, thunk.

Schmidt glanced away from Katie and Steve to try to find the source of the sound. Through the view of the large window, Katie spotted the calvary. Three men on ziplines flying through the air, coming to the supersoldier's rescue.

Katie grinned at him, "Yeah, well, so are we."

Schmidt curses as the rescue team crash through the window. He turned back to Katie and got ready to shoot but she tugged a guard in front of her and he got incinerated instead.

"We're in!" one of the men shouted into a walkie-talkie. "Go! Go! Go!"

Kaite freed her hands but with great disappointment couldn't glitch after Schmidt. She peered at the cuff that the Hydra agent had clipped on her wrist.

Plastic. The cuff was plastic. That made sense, plastic isn't a conductor of electricity and is trapping herself in place. She grabbed it and pulled it off of her wrist.

She summoned her shield and sword and stepped up next to Steve. "Thanks, Falsworth."

Falsworth shrugged and handed Steve his shield, "Don't mention it."

Steve and Katie sprinted through the corridors knocking down any soldiers in the way as they followed after Schmidt.

They ran into Peggy on the way.

"You guys are late," Katie commented as she bashed the helmet of a Hydra agent in.

"Well aware of the fact, Harper," Peggy said bitterly. "Weren't you two about to do something?"

Steve nodded, "Right, let's move, Kat."

Katie nodded and followed him.

"You know what this calls for?" Katie asked Steve as she stabbed an agent in the stomach and kicked another away from her.

"Please don't say a song," Steve groaned as he smacked another agent into a wall.

Katie grumbled, "Dang it."

Katie smacked a couple more guards around then she spotted him. "There he is!" She called to Steve.

Indeed, Schmidt was ascending a staircase into an unsettling familiar jet that was primed for flight.

Steve turned to look at Katie and with one glance, they knew the plan.

Katie took Steve's arm readying herself to glitch to the jet but she hesitated. This was probably the last time she would be with Steve. She steeled herself and turned Steve so she was facing him. She stood on her tiptoes to close the inch difference in height and pressed her lips to his. He seemed startled but he relaxed and kissed her back.

They pulled away a second later.

Katie took a couple of deep breaths, "We should probably get going."
