Holy shit chapter 20 already? I feel like I just started this book. damn.

Bakugo's POV:

The next day, I was pulled out of class in the middle of it. Aizawa was annoyed, but he let me leave. The one who pulled me out of class was actually Hawks again, which was surprising.

Maybe he's found information

But why come to me?

I'm not working with him or anything

We stepped out into the hallway and he walked away from the classroom door, pulling something out of his pocket.

A piece of paper.

"I was told to give this to you." He handed it to me and I unfolded it. I glanced over it and saw his name at the bottom.

Todoroki...

I shoved it in my pocket, my voice breaking a bit.

"I'll read it later."

"Alright. But just know that whether you decide to go or not, I'll be there."

"Huh?"

"The location he said. You'll read it later I guess. But I won't bother you or anything. You won't even know I'm there. I just need to hear his perspective first hand and he'll only entrust that to you."

"Then why can't you just ask me afterwards?"

"Because what if it's something you're not prepared to hear? Or what if he incriminates himself and you don't have the guts to turn him in? I know you two are close, but I need to make sure that he is not a threat to you or anyone else."

"Why would he be a threat?"

"When he first ran away and went off with Dabi, you said that you had just had a heated argument. You also mentioned he was already struggling. So given the circumstances, he was obviously mentally vulnerable."

"So?"

"Think about it. He was hurt and had nowhere to go. He was desperate."

"That doesn't make him a threat."

"Not for certain, no. But it makes him easy to manipulate."

He paced around.

"Who knows what kind of twisted logic they've planted in his brain. They could take his feelings and falsely identify them. Distort his mind against this world. It's hard to differentiate between right and wrong when what you thought was right leaves you with nothing. Especially when what you know to be wrong ends up filling that empty space. When you have nothing left, your humanity tries to fill that void with anything it can. The devil will find work for idle hands to do."

"You really think he'd turn to being a villain that easily?"

"Depends." He stared at me sharply. "Did you ever think he'd burn down his own home that easily either? With no remorse?"

My heart dropped.

"H-How do you-"

"You're not the only one keeping an eye on him you know. I've known Endeavor for a long time. I know how bad his temper can get. You think I don't know the gory details? You think I don't see the signs?"

"But you hardly even see Todoroki."

"With every bruised body, there's a pair of bruised knuckles as well. I see Endeavor all the time, you think I can't put two and two together? You don't have to look at the two of them long to know their relationship with one another."
