'Come have lunch baba. It's 2 pm' Rohit  banged the door as we were discussing work.

'These parents embarrass us so much right' she sighed as she went to open the door.

'Don't disturb us dada. I'm trying to do some work.' she whined.

'Do what ever you want to, but have your lunch first.'

'I'm not hungry.'

'Ok but what about her. She might be hungry but you won't let her go' He said pointing at me.

'No sir I'm fine.' I said.

'First, stop calling me sir. And secondly, I don't want any excuses, both of you come and have lunch.' he said.

'Ok-' I paused as I didn't understand how to mention him.

'Call him uncle, it suits his age' Samaira giggled.

'No! Call me Ro.' He said.

'I can't call you Ro, how come she gets to call you that?' Samaira asked.

'Because I happen to be your father and you have to call me Father/ dad/ dada/ daddy/ papa or anything of that sort.'

'Ok father' she joked.

'You keep teasing me while I'll go call your mumma. Until she shouts at you, you will not listen to me.'

'No, don't'

'Are you coming or not?' Ritika asked as she came to our room.

'Speak of the devil' Ro said.

'Both of you stop all this, you can't talk like this infront of a non family member' Ritika said bitterly.

Ouch!

Samaira and Ro froze at her blunt comment.

My phone became the savoir of the moment. I looked at the screen to see who was calling me, it was dad.

I excused myself and walked out of the room as I aswered the call.

'Vamu, when are you coming back?' he asked.

'Maybe in the evening dad.' I replied.

'What about your lunch?'

'I'll take care of it, bye'

At times I dont behave rude to them intentionally, it just happens out of habit. That was one such occasion.

'Let's resume work once we have our lunch.' Samaira said as she walked out of the room along with the other two.

'Yeah ok.' I said and followed them downstairs.

The silence was uncomfortable that too after knowing what Ritika felt about me. I really started to rethink about my decision to work with Samaira.

Firstly I didn't want them to know that I'm Virat Kohli's daughter and it's impossible for me to hide it from them forever.

'Where are you lost Alisha?' Samaira snapped her finger bringing me out of my trance.

'Are you uncomfortable with us?' Ro asked.

'No nothing of that sort. My mind is occupied with something else. Sorry.' I apologized.

My phone began ringing and this time it was mom. I straighly cut her call. And she called again and I did the same.

'Never cut your parent's call. Talk to her. It's alright' Samaira said and it felt awkward at that point to not lift the call.

'Hello' I said.

'Vamu, won't you call back after you have ended the call abruptly.' she began whining the same thing.

'Mom, I'm having my lunch right now, I'll call you after I go home.' I tried making an excuse.

'Ok beta, call me whenever you get free but do call for sure.'

'Nush'  Ritika exclaimed and she began trembling.

I immediately cut the call and diverted my attention to her.

'Huh, what?' I asked as if I didn't understand what she said.

'That's nush. I know that.' she said and began trembling.

'Rits calm down. Calm down.' Ro hugged her and began pacifying her.

'Ma what's wrong?' Samaira asked as she rushed to her Mom. She was visibly confused by then.

'I know for sure it's nush. I heard her voice. She was telling to call back' Rits spoke as she stopped weeping for a while.

'Dada do something. Why is mumma crying?' Samaira pleaded her dad.

'I don't get you. I was only talking to my mother' it felt terrible to lie but for some reason I didn't want to admit that it indeed was Anushka.

'I'm sorry Alisha. She's not well. Rits let's get some sleep, shall we?' Ro helped her to get up and took her gently to their room.

Only I and Samaira were there at the table and she wiped away her tears while her face was still crimson red.

'Hey it's ok.' I tried comforting her but I was unsure about what to say.

'I'm sorry. You have been put in this awkward position. Even I don't know what's wrong with Mumma, I've never seen her so upset and nervous until we came back here.'

'You don't have to apologise to me at all. Maybe we'll meet some other day and continue our discussion. I think it's best for you to be with her now.' I suggested.

'Thanks for understanding. I'll call you once all of this settles.' she said.

'Ok. Take care of her and you don't stress too much.' I said and resumed having my lunch. It was all silent at the time till the time I was done with our lunch.

'I'll take leave then.' I said.

'I really wish that you wouldn't stop working with me after all this has happened.' a small smile has formed on her face.

'No definitely not. Don't worry about that and do give me a call as soon as possible' I said getting up to wash my hands.

'Yes I will.' she said as she got up.

'No you continue having your lunch. I'll go. It's ok' I said.

'I'll come till the door, it's ok'

'No it's not. Never get up halfway while having your food.' I said and she resumed having her food.

'Alisha, come here' she called and I went to her.

She pulled me for a tight embrace as she said, ' You are my first friend here'

'And you are mine too, Samaira'

'It's Sammy' she corrected.

'Ok. You are my first friend here, Sammy' I said specifically stressing on her nick name.

I then walked towards the living room to leave and came across the photo frames again.

This time, with no one around, I decided to take a closer look.

'You know us, don't you?'
