'It's just a crush. You guys are just overreacting.' Vami went back to her room after her conversation with Mahi bhai and found Ro,Vi and Sammy talking about something.

'I wanna see. Give me the phone.' Vi tried snatching the phone from Ro who was zooming and staring at the screen. 

'He's my son in law. Let me see him properly.' Ro refused to let go of it.

'Saying it for the umpteenth time, IT'S JUST A CRUSH ' Sammy sighed and internally cursed herself for starting it.

'Your boyfriend? Why am I unaware of it? I wanna see him too' Vami decided to piss Sammy further.

'Don't act smart Vami. I know you are just making fun of me.' Sammy scowled.

'Does he smoke?' Ro asked.

'If he does, leave him right away. Also no drugs. And no anger issues as well.' Vi instructed as he tried peeping into the phone.

'What's his name?' Ro asked.

'How does that make a difference? Now give my phone back to me.' Sammy could no longer bear it.

'Why? Is it time for you to talk to your boyfriend?' Vami teased her.

'Yeah, so all of you leave the room.' replied Sammy sarcastically.

'Why? Is it 18+ type of talking?'

'Vami what are you talking? You are a baby!' Vi was taken aback.

'Baby? I'm sure she had a lot of flings back in California. Right Vami?' it was Sammy's turn this time.

'Oh please, there's nothing of that sort.' Vami clarified.

'I don't believe you. You are beautiful, kind, funny. I'm sure you received a lot of proposals.'

'But I didn't like any guy Sammy. And let's end this here.'

'Why didn't you like anyone? I heard guys in California are hot. Is your taste in men that bad?'

'Do you know how many hookups your dad had at your age Vami?' Ro decided to make fun of his bestie seeing the girls.

'As if you had any less. But your favourite is definitely Sofia. Isn't it Ro?' Vi fired back.

'Eww! Please Vi, stop it.'

'Why Ro? Didn't you like her?'

'As far as I remember you were more angry with her than me and are we gonna forget the fact that you literally punched her?'

'What?' the girls were shocked.

'Dad did you really punch a woman?' Vami asked.

'That's so cool.' exclaimed Sammy.

'He did Vami. He would do anything for me. Right Vi.' Ro showcased his goofy smile and clinged onto Vi.

'I had to! Or my reputation would also be tarnished for being your friend.'

'Who is he?' Vi's hawk eye spotted a guy on Sammy's lockscreen as she took her phone back.

'My best friend. But why did you shout chachu? You scared me.'

'Is he your only bestfriend?' asked Ro.

'No. Why?'

'Then why is only his picture of your lockscreen? Is he that special?' asked Vami.

'Chill guys. Did you look at his beard? I hate men with long beards as my boyfriend.' Sammy explained.

'But why? Beards are sexy sammy.'

'Did she just say the S word?' Ro dramatically closed his ears.

'My child! She's a grown up now' Vi joined Ro.

'No Vami. Beard pokes when you kiss a guy.'

'Ok, I'm done being the cool dad. I can't see my girls discussing their taste in men and what all you wanna do with them.  Let's end this here.' Ro stated unable to take it anymore.

'Yeah sure. We won't do this infront of you.' Sammy replied nonchalantly

'But on a serious note, if you girls ever like someone, we should be the first ones to know that. Get it?' asked Vi.

'Why?' asked Sammy.

'To guide you idiot.' Vami said.

'And you too Vami.' Ro said.

'That day would never come. So you guys don't have to get tensed about me.' Vami said.

'Why? Are you homosexual?' asked Sammy.

'Shut up.' all the other three have yelled at her at once.

'Who's fighting here?' Rits and Nush have come rushing into the room.

'Mumma, chachi look these three have formed a gang and bullying me.' said Vami with a sad face.

'Mom, she's a better actor than you. Don't fall for her words.' Vami warned Nush.

'I'm offended. Also you guys can't bully my girl. Come Sammy let's go and have ice cream.' Nush took her along.

'I want ice cream too.' Vi got out of the bed.

'Did I hear it right?' Ro asked.

'Ok don't start your drama now. I love Ice cream so much now that I almost eat it every day. Let me go eat it in peace now.' Vi headed out of the room.

'Vami can I ask you something?' Ro asked.

'Yes chachu. What is it?'

'Is the reason behind you not believing in love is your parents separation?' Ro asked and Vami just nodded her head.

'But they are back together now aren't they? Why do you still don't wanna fall in love?'

'Dad is lonely while mom felt pity for him that's why they got back together.  I don't think it's because of the love.' Vami said.

'How can you say that Vami? If Vi didn't love her he could have married someone else and moved on right. If Nush didn't love him why would she not want him to be hurt?'

'They were away for two decades but got back after just 3-4 days after meeting. How is that possible?' asked Vami.

'Because they've spent enough time regretting their actions and hoping for things to get back to normal. That's the beauty of time. It makes one realise, regret and rewrite.'

'Whatever it might be. I don't think I'm compatible for love.'

'I know life has been so cruel to you. But wasn't it you who said that it's all done and our beautiful days have come back?'

'When did I say that chachu?'

'You said something with the same meaning. I don't remember the exact same lines but this is what you meant. You remember, don't you?'

'I do chachu. I was just teasing you.'

'What? You too? I thought you were on my team.' Ro whined.

'Ofcourse I'm on your team chachu. You do know that I liked you even before Sammy right.'

'Yeah but that's as Ro uncle, I'm Ro chachu. Even when you were born, you'd spend most of your time with me, as if you already knew that I love you the most and you should love me the most.' Ro gently kissed on her forehead.

'I thought I was destined to be alone my whole life without love from anyone. I would get so jealous of my classmates when I used to see them with their families. I wish I grew up with you all.' Vami's eyes welled up.

'The hardest phase in our lives is done. All that's left is to love each other and enjoy every moment until our last breath. And I promise you, no matter what happens this time I'm won't leave you alone.'

'Promise?' asked Vami vulnerably.
