It was the evening before they had to go back to Hogwarts. She couldn't say she was excited. In fact she was actually very nervous. This was her final year. The final year she could call Hogwarts her home.
It had been a few weeks since they had returned. Tom destroyed any pictures of her parents in a fire and made sure she watched. Any sign of anybody living in this house ,besides them, was completely gone. It felt..refreshing. To be able to look at the house she grew up in and not recognize it.
She stood outside smoking her muggle cigarette. They were soon to leave for Wool's Orphanage and she could feel the stress coming off of him. "You know those kill you" he said from behind her.
"That's the point Riddle" she smiled but he took it out her mouth, threw it on the ground and smashed it with his shoe. "I prefer you alive" he said and walked into the garden.
"Are you ready?" She said walking up to him.
"Yes" he said blankly and they took each other's hand and apparated away.
They landed on their feet facing the door of Wool's Orphanage. It was small and bleak. It lacked color and happiness. She could understand just by the very atmosphere it had surrounding it why Tom is the way he is.
They walked up into the Orphanage hand in hand. He had no emotion on his face. There was a little women at the front desk whom did not look up when they walked in. "Good afternoon Mrs.Cole" Tom said suddenly and the lady flinched looking up scared. Her eyes widened at the sight of Tom. She straightened herself out when she realized he had brought a girl here.
"Good after noon Mr.Riddle. Who may this be?" She said looking over at the pretty girl.
"This is Marcelline Dubois, my girlfriend. If you don't mind could you fetch me some papers please?" He said politely even though the rage in his body was bubbling.
"What papers?" She asked.
"I have found a home. I will not need to stay here no more" he said and she almost looked, relieved. She hurried away and brought back two papers. All he had to do was sign them and he was out.
That's what he did. He signed them the minute he was handed them. "I will be going up to my old room to gather the rest of my things" he said and walked away from her with Marcelline in his hand. They walked up the stairs quietly.
They walked down a hallway all the way to the furthest door. He entered it hesitantly. She walked behind him as he walked in slowly. It was dreadful. There was only a small bed that looked like it was made for an infant. A white dresser in the corner and a window. It looked so depressing.
She noticed a few things that he had left. There was a few clothes in his dresser he had grabbed. There was a few pieces of artwork on the window sill that he grabbed but she didn't mind them. She only watched one thing.
7 rocks laid there on the window sill, perfectly in line. Tom watched as she approached them and stiffened.
"7 boys" he said making her jump.
"I was 6" he said going to where she was. He was being so vulnerable it made him want to rip open his skin and pour acid.
"They didn't like me very much in here. I was quiet. Small. They would push me down the stairs, cut my hair." He said staring at the rocks.
"We we're in the neighborhood park when it happened. I was reading the whole time. 7 boys a couple years older than me. They kicked me, punched me, spit on me. I did nothing" he said and Marcelline looked at him.
"I later killed and hung Billy Stubbs rabbit from the rafters. He told Mrs.Cole and she thought I was mad. She thought I was the devil. She sent a priest on me. They performed an exorcist. They thought whatever evil I had in me they could preach out." He said remembering the traumatic experience.
"A week later that priest was found dead" he said with a small smile. Marcelline knew he had killed him, whether intentionally or not.
"She had been quite scared of me since then" he said taking a rock in his hand.
"Since that day I swore I will get my vengeance. I will make them cower at the very thought of me." He said.
7 boys.
7 Horcruxes.
"You will" she said quietly.
"Tom?" Someone said from the doorway making them both turn around. A boy about a year or two older than Tom entered the room. He was chubby with pimples all over his face. "I thought they had sent you to the nut house" he said with a laugh.
"Hello Billy" Tom said and Marcelline stared into the boys eyes. This is one of the boys who made Tom the way he is. Who destroyed his childHood. Who belittled him. A muggle boy.
"You've got a girlfriend now? Who knew little Tom Riddle wasn't gay after all" he said. Tom stared into the boys eyes with intimidation but it was like he was frozen. Just like the time when he was 6, he was pathetic. A coward.
The door suddenly flew shut behind him and locked leaving him locked in here with them. His face suddenly went pale as Marcelline stepped forward to him. He started coughing violently. Water started spilling from his mouth as he threw up. She went behind him as he hunched over.
"Do you want to die Billy?" She whispered in his ear as the water suddenly turned to blood. Tom could only watch. Tom could only watch the girl whom he so deeply obsessed over torture the boy who started all of this for him.
Billy could only scream as the blood poured from his eye sockets. She grabbed his head with a force so powerful and put her lips to his ear. "Do you want to die?" She whispered again. He violently shook his head.
"Too bad" she said and grabbed his head, cracking his neck making his lifeless body flop to the floor. Tom watched the boy lay there in his own bodily fluids; lifeless.
Marcelline stepped over his body to face Tom. He was so pale.
"No one will ever hurt you again" she said caressing his face. Tom had thought that he was her savior; her protector.
She had been his.
She was his sanity.
