Over the past six months, we did what Dr Riju told us. I only got a shock twice when I overslept for five minutes. Our day started at seven in the morning, for three hours I would test drive the creatures. At ten then came the bloods. He only needed one vial this was followed by a late brunch, which was normally the doctors left overs.

After brunch I gave the doctor feedback, listing the many issues that weren't there just to buy more time. When he had enough of me, I saw my sister try and become another one of Dr Riju's test subjects.
Not only was my sister a mage but a psychic as well, Dr Riju expressed interest in telepathy and telekinesis.
I don't know how he did it but he injected her with these powers, sadly though he was extreme with her. I remember her crying because she wouldn't levitate a car that was in the garage. The screaming and many whippings ensued, the whip was the doctors favourite new addition. It was not uncommon to see my sister full of slashings, bleeding wounds and bruises.

Marnie slept in an islolation room, that was outside in a renovated shed, we were in the middle of no where, I heard her scream and sob everyday. I was forbidden to talk to her, she slept in a shed while I got a decent looking bedroom with an ensuite bathroom. The doctor got my ankle fitted for a prosthetic, I had to relearn to walk it didn't bother me too much. However at night the phantom pain was unbearable, I felt my nub ache, itch and sweat.

My sister was never offered an arm prosthetic, I noticed she was getting more emaciated. Just a bag of skin and bones, there were a few times where I saw her retching in the toilet when I Soul Wandered.
I wish she could escape, I was treated like royalty, never got whipped and shocked twice.
There were so many nights where her screams just rattled my insides, I so wanted to run to her and escape.
But I couldn't because I had my right foot tethered to the bed frame, it was only long enough for toilet trips. Just like Marnie, I too fell asleep in a pool of tears.
All seemed hopeless until I heard a knock on my bedroom window. I opened the curtains, only to see the two Knights I dreamt of seeing: Marvin and Nio.

Both of them stood on the balcony part of my window, I gestured a shush. Letting them in as quiet as possible. "Good to see you sis," Marvin said with a gleeful smile, a scream from the shed sliced the calm air. Nio whom I met in Knight City, and was a medic diagnosed her just from the sound of her scream. "She's got PTSD, bulimia and extreme phantom pain, we are gonna get you two out of here."

Before I could say anything, Marvin cut my thought process, "look we've been looking for you for six months, my team have been looking all over the country. No one worships the Holy One anymore, he's building an army. We are gonna fight him and the Maker!"
A big smile spread across my face, Nio gave me a pill I swallowed it, I knew it was the invisibility pill. We managed to exit the window, until I saw a light turn on in the hallway. Yes, even Dr Riju slept here. Panic was rushing through me, I still had the collar on my neck but daren't take it off. I saw Dr Riju enter my room, Marvin and Nio flew to the rooftop, as I sat on the balcony's metal rusting bar.

One thing I forgot was that the metal chain, normally shackled to my right ankle, had slid off when I turned invisible. I noticed sonething was off with Dr Riju, he was clumsy and wobbly. Was he drunk? Now I think about it, the guy might be a high functioning alcoholic or had a nasty streak in him.
Luckily he left my room and returned to his room, the light turned off, only the moon shone on us.

It occured to me that I forgot my prosthetic, Nio helped me down and whispered, "don't worry we'll get your wings and foot back." We approached the shed, Marvin picked the lock. Nio set me down on the grass, before Marnie could react Nio chucked some fine dust in her face. With Marvin catching her, both of them looked at the shed too long.

I crawled to the shed and was horrified beyond belief, it stank of old vomit. The walls were covered in old blood, and I saw two crow skeletons. I gasped and tears rolled down my cheeks, Marnie had gone so insane that her crows died. Marvin shut the door and set her down, "poor thing, can you fix her Nio?"
Nio nodded his head, replying "I can help her but she has to want it. Her weight is so thin, I'm amazed she's still alive. Lets get to base and fix these girls up."

With that the two Knights flew us to their base, gone was Dr Riju and that fucking lab. I was carried by Marvin, Nio took Marnie because she was very high risk. I forgot the feeling of flying through the skies, the moon was full, its bright light illuminating the ground.
Thinking we were going to Marvins village thing, instead we went to a place I once knew, fear gripped my throat like a vice. We were heading to St Caesers, my old boarding school. It seemed the same to me, we landed near the entrance. Two gurneys awaited Marnie and me, Nio flicked his sleeping powder at me. Sleep grabbed and pulled me into the dark confines of nightmares.

I don't know how long I slept for but, all I knew was that I was in a makeshift recovery clinic. I was hooked up to a heart monitor, an intravenous bag of saline towered above me. I managed to sit upright, my brain registered that my left foot moved. I looked under the sheet and saw my left foot, Nio made it come back. I even noticed my wings were back, I touched my left foot and wings.
I heard a knock and in came a familiar face, it wasn't a Knight but a long lost friend. It was Zoey.
