Over the next few hours I was comforting Marnie, she had little objects flying all around the place. It was clear that her power was getting stronger. I sat on my bed and had to decide, shall I fight or flee? With a deep sigh, I looked at Marnie she was sat cross legged on her bed. I asked her "what shall we do? Fight or flee, I want to fight but I also want you to decide."
Marnie looked at me. I didn't notice but she was crying, tears flowing down her face it reminded me of raindrops dripping on blades of grass. Of course she wants to flee, I thought harshly she's been through enough. It was decided, I got up about to leave the room.
All of a sudden it happened, the attack of flying hospital beds, the large whiteboard and chairs all flew towards me. I tried to get away but I felt a hard blunt force on my temple, my vision went blurry. I saw Marnie, standing over me in silence. Consciousness was slipping from my grip like a freshly caught salmon, desperate to get free.
The memory failed me but I heard one thing that changed everything, "you Knights are so naïve, time to get the real troops in here." Just like that I lost consciousness, all I could do was blame myself. How could I be so stupid? Marnie sounded like she worked for the government from that sentence. Or was she on the Holy One's side, being a mole feeding information back to the enemy. Whatever she is or who she worked for, it was dire. Knights were elusive and shy, when I worked in Knight City it was hidden from all human technology.
Regardless, if the government caught wind of this war, I know they would fight all of us and the Holy One's army. After a while of being unconscious, I felt the skeletal, slender fingers of Nio on my temple. The concussion had healed, my vision was back to normal. I saw Nio's face he looked sick of everything, his breath stank of tobacco and Red Bulls.
Should I tell him? I thought hastily, his face screamed 'I'm too tired for this bullshit.' Nio's eyelids drooped like an old Bassett Hound, but this waa urgent. My mind was racing until Nio caringly asked, "you look like you need to say something. Come on Claire cough it up." I told Nio what I heard, his eyes were still drooping, when I finished he just sat there looking unbothered.
The messy room still had the broken chairs, while the whiteboard lay snapped in half from the Marnie's telekinetic throw. The hospital beds were still standing, Nio gave up on fighting the fatigue he walked to a bed, collapsed on it and within a minute slept soundly.
I decided that I should let him sleep, so with careful footing I left the room.
The face I met there was Marvin, he looked like he ran to see me in an urgent manner. His face was full of fear and dread, almost like he just saw his worst nightmare.
Marvin tried to speak but he was breathless from sheer anxiety and running, I waited for hin to calm down, waiting with baited breath. "Claire, you have no idea what we are facing, that whore Marnie. She's a mole, the Holy One has increased his men. All of Knight City is after us!" Marvin's eyes were full of hopelessness, he was scared beyond shitless. This is when I heard and saw chaos, a horde of Knights came flying into the school. All equipped with scythes, daggers and a quiver of poison laced arrows. I walked straight outside, taking in the war scenes of Knights killing humans and feasting on their corpses.
A part of me wanted to fight alongside my brethern, I saw Zoey wacking the rogue Knights with a metal baseball bat as she tried to protect two human students. We saw each other and both nodded, I was going to do it, give myself to the Holy One and my mother; the Maker.Inside the pit of my stomach, there was a flame it burned brighter and ignited a sort of ancient being inside me. This flame was old and young. It was at this moment where I looked at a rogue Knight, then it happened. I somehow managed to stop him and with this new power, I dismembered his limbs, wings and neck all without moving my arms. There was no inkling of regret in what I just did, but it felt good. I never felt this pleasure in such a long time, I looked up and saw the Holy One in his dragon form.
My mind went numb, all what I could recall was flying to the benevolent being and with my claw like hands stabbed the gods eyes. It wasn't long until I heard the deafening roar, both of my hands were in each eye. It screamed in agony and tried to shake me off, I hovered there and dug my hands in deeper and deeper until I reached the optic nerve. With enough force and strength I yanked on the optic nerve and gouged the Holy One's eyes out, red blood showered over me like an overhead sprinkler.
I dropped the eyes, they were slimy, bloody and the size of my hands with a reptilian pupil staring back at me. Fury consumed me, I was its puppet, I dived inside the Holy One's mouth, narrowly missing the ultra sharp canines.
My hands were mainly claws similar to that of a sloth or anteater, I tore the beasts oesophagus until I heard the heartbeats. Like a burrowing mole, I clawed my way to the thoracic region. The heart was there, it was a bit bigger than my head, without a thought, I swung my arm to it and severed the heart from its many vessels and arteries.
More blood washed over me, I was swimming in blood and I felt like the Holy One was falling, I scratched at the walls near the cylindrical ribcage and managed to escape.I flew out of the corpse and saw the Holy One fall down to the ground. The electric blue scales were stained with blood, the dragons' eyeless face died in such severe pain. Now it was time to kill my mother, and maybe kill Marnie. A twang of shame tugged at my conscience, I just flew there deciding on whether I should kill or not.
