Ethan
Ethan woke up to his intercom going off. He sighed and pressed the button to see who it was. He cursed under his breath when he saw an angry Lauren standing by the elevator doors in the lobby.
"Ethan, I know you are here. Let me up." She snapped.
Ethan looked down at the beautiful sleeping angel next to him. He refused to let Lauren disrupt her. He pressed the button and spoke.
"I'll be down in a minute." He answered before shutting down the system and gently unwrapping Cassie from him.
She stirred slightly but quickly fell back into her peaceful slumber. He threw on some jogging pants and grabbed his navy robe to cover his chest. He slid his feet into his luxury slippers and made his way to his elevator.
Once on the main floor he sighed at the scowl on Lauren’s face. “You couldn’t let me up?” She asked, her voice strained. He sighed.
“No Lauren, I couldn’t.” He stated. She blinked and looked at the elevator doors behind him before her eyes landed on him again.
“Who is she?” Ethan shrugged. “Why does it matter?” Lauren scoffed and looked away.
“I could divorce you for this you know. I would take half of everything.” Ethan narrowed his eyes at her as he moved closer. His demeanor turned eerily dark and Lauren instantly took a step back.
“You could try, but the prenup says nothing about me being faithful. Only you, you were so worried about your monthly allowance you skipped right over that detail.” Lauren’s face fell slightly as she studied Ethan’s unwavering face.
"I told you I didn't want this. You're the one wanting to put on a show. I even told your father." Ethan blurted. He didn’t mean to let that detail slip out, but here they were.
Lauren's eyes widened in shock. "What?!" She shrieked.
"Yea, but just like you all he cared about was the money and this business venture he has with my dad. He stated the contract couldn't be broken and frankly he didn't care about our personal problems nor what I decided to do with my own dick."
Lauren's mouth lay slightly ajar as she was rendered speechless. She tried to hide her shock but Ethan noticed it. She’s always been spoiled. He knew hearing that her dad didn’t care if she was happy in this union hurt. Shaking off her feelings, she cleared her throat.
"Well whoever your little whore is. You better keep her a secret. Would hate for the press to rip her apart." Her voice laced in a fake sweet tone. She looked pass Ethan again before turning on her heels and walking out the door.
Knowing Lauren, she would hire a private investigator. Ethan sighed as he knew it wouldn't matter too much. She would have a hard time proving it was Cassie. Cassie lived in the building so her leaving this building wouldn't be suspicious.
Add that she was his assistant and Lauren really had nothing. She could make herself look crazy all she wanted. Ethan still wasn't going to give in to her. Besides, he wasn't hiding Cassie and at the current moment they weren't anything.
Sure he loved her with every fiber of his being. But Cassie was clear that they were not a couple. Also with everything going on with Jerrod, Ethan knew she was not in the head space to have a relationship. He was to be there for her, in anyway she needed, but he would not pressure her.
Sighing he made his way back to his floor. He paused at his bedroom door as he heard Cassie was awake. Problem was, she was crying. He opened the door to see her looking at her phone. She looked up at him before putting her phone back down.
"Perle, what's wrong?" He asked as he made his way to her. She sighed, let out a humorless chuckle before shaking her head.
"Blocking him doesn't work. He just gets another number and calls and sends messages. His threats are getting more violent by the second."
"Turn off your phone, baby." She turned off her phone and then looked up at him. He could tell she was tired.
Even with all the sleep she has had the past few days. Ethan could still see the mental tax this had on her. Her eyes were still red and puffy. Her hair was now pulled up in a messy curly bun. Nonetheless, she still took his breath away.
"We will get you a new phone. Are you up for going out today?" Ethan asked delicately. He didn't want her to feel pressured to go out if she didn't want to.
She shook her head no and placed her phone in Ethan's hand. He nodded in understanding, kissed her forehead and headed to the bathroom to get ready for the day.
…
"This guy is seriously sick." Ethan tated as he read the messages Jerrod sent to Cassie. They were still coming in as he rode to get her a new phone.
'Kitten, stop ignoring me.'
'Answer your phone.'
'When I see you I'm going to teach you a serious lesson.'
'Who are you with right now? I'll kill them.'
'Maybe I should pay your parents a visit. Teach them a lesson for raising such stuck up cunt of a daughter.'
'Your mom looks mighty delicious for her age. Maybe I'll fuck her before I put a bullet through her head, then your dad's.'
'ANSWER YOUR FUCKING PHONE YOU LITTLE BITCH!'
Ethan couldn't stand to see any more. The phone rang again and he answered immediately.
"Listen closely Jerrod." Ethan's voice was filled with so much darkness that his driver looked at him through the rearview mirror.
"You have harassed and terrified Cassie long enough. You will not contact her anymore."
Jerrod released an evil chuckle.
"You really think you can have my girl Shaw? Over my dead body." Jerrod sneered.
"That, Mr. O'Connor, can certainly be arranged."
Ethan hung up the phone before allowing Jerrod to say another word. Taking out his phone, he dialed Nick.
"What's up?" Nick answered.
"Call Massimo." Ethan stated.
"Shit man. It's that bad?"
"Just call him." Ethan stated and hung up.
