Jerrod

"Cassandra, do you take Jerrod to be your lawfully wedded husband?" The officiant asked.

Cassie looked to the officiant before her gaze went back to Jerrod. Jerrod's jaw ticked slightly, she was taking too long to answer.

His eyes narrowed at her and as she shifted in her heels she quickly answered.

"I do." Her voice shook slightly causing Jerrod to slightly squeeze her hand.

Her eyes flew to him in alarm. He smiled at her, but it didn't reach his eyes. Cassie visibly gulped, he knew she knew he was losing his patience.

She didn't make eye contact for the majority of the ceremony. She knew how much he disliked when she did that. It was okay though, she could do this for now. She was his now, no one could take her from him.

"You may now kiss your bride." With a bright smile, Jerrod wrapped his arm around Cassie's waist pulling her close. Her eyes glistened as she looked back at him.

Eagerly he pulled her into a kiss. The crowd began to clap and cheer as he pulled away, he kept her close as he felt her legs start to go limp. A few whoops came from his groomsmen as he smiled bright.

"Smile kitten." He whispered in Cassie's ear before turning them towards the crowd.

Ethan

"I THOUGHT YOU SAID YOU COULD STOP HIM!" Ethan yelled as he slammed the printed article on Matteo's desk.

Matteo looked at the paper before puffing the smoke from the cigar out of his lungs. He didn't say anything, just narrowed his eyes at Ethan.

"We ran into a hiccup." Massimo spoke up. It was only then Ethan realized he was there.

"I don't care, she shouldn't be married to that sick demented man!"

"She chose to marry him." Massimo said with a shrug.

"Yea to save her parents. But that doesn't make any sense. Those people don't even deserve to be called her parents. They gave their daughter up all for money." Ethan's chest heaved up and down.

No matter how many times he ran through the conversation with Cassie through his head. It didn't make sense. Why would she do something so foolish?

"You said you talked to her right?" Matteo finally spoke.

Ethan nodded, still breathing hard.

"What were her words?" He asked.

"She said she had to go to Jerrod for her family, that he was making threats and that he could put out information that would ruin her family."

"He was making threats" Massimo repeated.

Matteo hummed to himself causing Ethan to look between the both of them in confusion.

"What?" His irritation obvious.

"Come on Ethan think!" Matteo yelled. "In the short time I've known Cassandra I've gathered that she's very smart. You think she would do this over some random secret?"

Ethan paused. He didn't know what to believe. She told him he knew their secrets and he would tell them. How could he not believe it when it came from her mouth?

"It doesn't make sense to me. But she told me-"

"Ethan both of her parents are cheating on each other, that's the big secret and it wasn't hard to find." Matteo interrupted with a bored expression.
