Hawkins, Indiana was like Hell on Earth. It grew in fame with every death and tragedy. The town was starting to seem more of a burden to live in Hawkins, rather than a luxury.
Roxy hated keeping secrets. But nobody could know about what had been happening since November of 1983. She had to just live with all that she knew, locked away in her brain.
None of it really made any sense whatsoever. Roxy didn't even fully understand all that she got told, but she knew she had to fight. And it was in hell of a fight.
She hated the cover story. A mall fire? Killing that many people? It didn't make sense. Hawkins news had also practically thrown the survivors aside. Eventually the town forgot, but she didn't. Roxy was still traumatized.
Her and Billy had a complicated relationship. He was her first real relationship, but Billy was an asshole. Roxy didn't think she would miss him that much. But, alas, she did. Terribly.
She hated how she just held him, letting his blood stain her clothes. But her clothes were already dirty after the whole Russians incident, and nothing could've saved him at that point.
She was entering her senior year in highschool, and she was determined to reinvent herself. Roxy was captain of the cheer team, and she had a new boyfriend. The gate was closed and all was well.
Roxy had never really spoken to Eddie Munson before. She'd pass him in the hallway, making brief eye contact, before her attention would go back to Andy.
Andy taught her to believe that Eddie was a gross freak, who played weird fantasy games and had strange friends, so that was what she believed.
Call it faith or a coincidence. Or perhaps the two were at the wrong place at the wrong time, but Roxy would have no idea who extremely important Eddie Munson would be to her in a mere few days.
But then again, people do strange things when there lives are at stake.
