"You what?!" Maddie, Valerie's childhood best friend exclaimed as she choked on her drink.
"Shhh!"Valerie quickly shushed her friend as she looked around the classroom to see if somebody heard that little outburst of her. Lucky for Valerie, no one seemed to have heard it.
Val, sighed in relief as she glanced back at her best friend. "And how long did you say it was?" Maddie asked in a whisper.
"2 years....since first year." Val mumbled while sweating bullets at the stare of her best friend.
If Valerie could describe her best friend right now, it'd be terrifying. She was looking at Val with blazing eyes full of hunger. Like she wanted to squeeze the juicy information out of Val's mouth right now. Vicious.
"Seriously?! How come I didn't know about this!"
Maddie whined as she shook Valerie back and forth. Valerie quickly got out of her best friend grip just in time before she felt her lunch rushing up from her stomach.
Maddie mumbled strings of apologies as she saw Val's pale face. After Val reassured her friend that she was indeed okay, the two decided to continue their chat.
"So...are you gonna confess to him or something?" Maddie casually asked.
Valerie stared at her in disbelief. "Do you actually think I have the guts to do that?"
"No." Maddie answered in a blank look. "Beside, he has tons of fangirls around. You might not even get close to him to do so, they might bury you six feet under." She added cheekily.
Valerie groaned, "Is it really necessary to rub that information to my face?!" Val huffed in annoyance at her cackling friend.
How are we friends again? A question that would sometimes pop up in Valerie's mind.
"You done laughing at my misery?" Val asked sarcastically.
Maddie laughed for a few more seconds before nodding. "Hm, if you couldn't confess to him face to face how about in text?" Maddie suggested.
"No." Val was quick to deny her idea. "The guys could mistake me as some stalker and report me to the police. Hard pass."
"Eh! I know he's a jerk but maybe not that much!" Val's friend stated not sure of it herself.
"Wait, that could happen actually....never mind." she quickly said as if she imagined the scene happen in her head.
Valerie deadpanned at her best friend. "For someone who hates the most popular boys in school, you're a fan of romance novels and claim to be married to fictional men." Val muttered.
"Hey! Fictional men are better than those idiots!"
"And that's why their fictional."
Maddie thought for a moment before saying.
"Give him food?"
"It'll end up in the trash, best case scenario it's given to someone else."
"Put chocolates in his locker?"
"How would a box of chocolate even fix in the gaps of the lockers?"
"Flowers?"
"Trash."
Maddie hung her head low with a gloomy aura surrounding her. Val patted her back in sympathy while she cried in crocodile tears biting her handkerchief mumbling nonsense.
"There ,there." Val said patting her back.
"Of all the boys in this damn school, he has to be the one you end up liking?! His not even your type damnit!" Maddie exclaimed while pointing at Valerie accusingly with crocodile tears.
Valeri just rolled her eyes at the scene. How was it her fault? Poor, Valerie had to listen to her best friend endless rants about fictional men are better and Val's possible love life.
Suddenly Maddie stopped with an expression that seemed to be saying eureka!
"Why did you suddenly sto---Maddie?!" Valerie nearly jumped out of her wits when she saw her friend rather questionable yet determined look.
"The great Maddie had an idea." Maddie muttered grinning evilly. It sent shivers down Val's spine.
"And that is?" Val asked gulping, debating whether or not she should entertain that idea.
"To write him a letter!" Maddie answered proudly as if she just solved a world ending problem.
Val blinked twice and yet again, trying to process the words that had just came out her friends mouth.
"That's actually a great idea. Sorry for doubting you." Val said as she broke into a small smile. Maddie was grinning proudly before stopping. "You had doubts?! I am hurt" she said clenching her chest dramatically.
"But what if he just throws it in the trash again?" Val asked suddenly remembering a group of girls comforting their friend who's letter was thrown out.
"Doesn't matter! Whether he reads it or not at least you'll get your feeling out. And you know possible move on." Maddie said mumbling the last one.
"Then writing a letter it is!"
***
Valerie stood in front of the lockers with a lilac colored envelope in her hands. She nervously looked at her surroundings to make sure that no one was there.
After making sure that she was the only one there, she let out a sigh and stepped closer to his supposedly designated locker and slip the envelope on the gap before quickly walking away.
***
Maddie: "Did you send the letter already?"
Valerie: Of course. By the way how did you find put his locker's number?
Maddie: There's noting the Great Matchmaker Maddie can't do! MWAHAHAHAHHA!
Valerie: How are we friends again?
Maddie: Geh!
