Sincerely Yours

Chapter 10

Silence surrounded both of them with Oliver looking intently at the girl who was staring at the lilac letters with an unknown emotion flashing in her eyes. He watched as the girl carefully held the letters in her other hand before lifting her face to him.

She gave him a small smile before nodding her head in confirmation.

"I did wrote those. But I never expected that you would read them." the girl mumbled quietly. "But now that the cat's out of the bag, I might as well confess my feelings for you."

Oliver only listened quietly and let the girl continue talking. The fist that were placed on both of his arms were clenched tightly in anticipation.

"Like what I told you in my letters, I've been smitten by you ever since we were in out first years. I only thought that my crush for you before was a fling and it'll be gone in a week or so. "

"But multiple weeks had passed and yet my so-called crush was still there. I never bother with it since I thought my feelings for you would cool down so I waited a few more weeks. Those weeks turned to months and months turn to two years."

"I didn't get it. I was confused since I never had a crush on someone for this long and if I remember my longest crush lasted only 2 months. But yours...it was different." Val's gaze lowered till she was looking down at the ground.

"I told Maddie about my crush on you. I told her no matter how long I waited, it wouldn't fade away. I rant and rant till she got annoyed she shoved a piece of bread in my mouth. She then explained to me that what I was feeling wasn't just a crush...she told me that I was in love with you."

Oliver's eyes widened when he heard the last three words.

"At first I denied it, but it was impossible to keep on denying it since it only got stronger. To the point Maddie suggested I write you a love letter, that even so you wouldn't read it, I would at least get my feeling out."

"If I'm being honest, I never expected you to read them or even for us to talk like this...I was prepared to have my feelings not returned you know." Val released a giggle before looking up to face Oliver who stood frozen in his spot.

"So, Oliver I've liked--no loved you for a long time now. I know that isn't enough but would you go out with me? "She asked him, connecting her eyes with his. She was readying herself for a "no" and even some harsh words.

Oliver stared at the girl. "I don't know what to reply. I recently meet you and I never really know you personally so, I don't think I can return your confession..."he muttered.

Val smiled sadly, she knew this would happen so she didn't feel that bad. She could only nodded in understanding.

"Of course, you never knew me till me officially meet just a few weeks ago. So,I guess it's understandable--"

"However," Oliver cuts her off. "I can't deny the fact that I like you too."

Val's eyes widened and her jaw dropped in shock. Is he also confessing?! Oliver chuckled at her reaction before taking a few steps forward until there were only a few distances left between them.

"From the day I started reading your letter until the last on you sent ,I found myself slowly falling for you too. Every time I read the letters written for me I always found my heart thumbing in anticipation because you were so sincere."

Val's breath hitch when she felt Oliver tucked a strand of hair behind her ears.

"I think we can work thing out." He mumbled softly. "However, I have no idea on how romance really works, so I hope you can be patient with me." He added putting on a gently smile as he placed his thumb on Val's face slowly caressing it.

"So, that's a yes?" Val asked.

"Yeah, it's a yes." Oliver said smiling at the girl.

Behind the trees both Maddie and Blake were silently cheering on their best friends who have now confessed to each other.

Maddie: I waited so long for this. It was a great idea making her write that letter after all.

Blake: It sure was, and it was worth making him read it too.

Maddie: We make great match makers don't we?

Blake: I couldn't agree more. So, I've been meaning to ask you something....

Maddie: Eh? Sure, what is it?

Blake: Will you go out on a date with me?

Maddie: Eh?!

Blake: Hey! Quiet down, they'll hear us! Plus, I am serious.

Maddie :hmm...I'll think about it.

Blake: For real!? Yes!

Maddie: Shh! We'll get caught!
