—————————————————————The next day was possibly the most awkward that Draco and Harriet had ever experienced in their lives.
They danced around each other from morning until evening in tedious bursts of polite, formal statements that entailed business-related remarks about their research, and only when absolutely necessary, otherwise they sat at their separate desks and frowned down at their work.
Draco glanced up at Harriet occasionally and mourned his lack of knowledge about what to do or how to voice his feelings.
When Draco looked down, Harriet looked up and frowned at him as she worried about hurting her coworker as much as she had already wounded her husband and herself.
As that dreadfully long day finally came to an end, Harriet hurriedly packed her bag and left the office first.
Draco didn't look up from the notebook he had buried himself in as she walked past him, although he imagined how decadent her legs looked as he heard her high heels click against the floor.
He caught a whiff of her delightful scent, which to him smelled like fine, jasmine-scented perfume as she passed by and called out, "Good night."
"Good night." Draco grunted while he stared down at the page.
He sighed to himself after he heard their office door close.
While he listened to Harriet walk down the hallway, a frown marred his handsome face.
As Harriet stepped into the lift, she wore a very similar expression.

After a week had passed, that same awkward state of uncomfortable anxiety lingered between Auror Potter and Auror Malfoy.
Another one followed, but by the third week anniversary of Harriet and Draco's fiery kiss, their research began to near an end.
They both knew that their field assignment would be coming soon.
In an effort to mitigate some of the awful tension, Harriet finally approached Draco about their situation two days before their report to Maxwell was due.
"Going out for lunch?" She asked Draco late one morning.
"I honestly haven't thought about it yet." He shrugged as he looked up from his research.
"Alright, great......" Harriet nodded, "I was thinking maybe we could eat here, you know, in the office.....you and I?" She asked.
Draco tried not to audibly suck in a deep breath as his heart clenched in excited anticipation.
"I think we should talk about what happened." Harriet nodded.
"I rarely agree with you, Potter, but I suppose that isn't the worst idea you've ever had." Draco scoffed.
Harriet ignored his arrogance as she opened a drawer and retrieved a few takeaway pamphlets from her desk, "Alright then, I'll order lunch."
"I think not." Draco huffed as he stood, walked over, and snatched the menus out of her hand. He frowned down at her as he added, "Do you honestly think that I'd let you buy me lunch?"
"Some things never change, Malfoy. You really are as snobbish as you were years ago!" Harriet laughed.
Draco scowled at her before he looked over the menus in his hand.
