Harriet earned many pitying whispers and sad frowns as her hours decreased at the office during the month before the baby's expected arrival date.

She struggled to make it through an entire day without needing a nap or to simply rest for a few moments before she continued on.

At Draco's insistence, she followed her body's orders.

His only regret during the time that Harriet spent out of the office and cuddled safely into her nest at Malfoy Manor was that he could not join her there.

Draco wished his romance with Harriet Potter would have started differently.

How much easier everything would have been if their baby had been conceived under less scandalous circumstances!

With Harriet largely absent, the other aurors found themselves tasked with her assignments to compensate.

It irritated Draco at first that he had been one of the lucky wizards assigned to undertake a part of Harriet's workload, but he used his family's power and prestige well.

Late one afternoon, he wore a haughty sneer on his handsome face as he barged out of his office with his arms full of various documents and files.

His coworkers nodded at him as he marched down the hall and headed towards the secretary's desk, intent on leaving the Auror Department to scurry down to the Floo chimneys in the Ministry's main lobby.

"Working from home again tonight, Mr. Malfoy?" The secretary blinked as he came within speaking distance.

"Seems that way." Draco sniffed as he briefly paused to reply, "I can hardly get anything done here after hours, there's only so long I can tolerate being trapped in that stuffy little room."

The secretary cast him a dreamy look as she gazed up at his handsome face.

Draco cleared his throat.

He sought to free himself before the situation became more awkward as he stiffly nodded, ".....Goodnight."

He quickly turned to continue on his way out the door, but the Auror Department's secretary called him back as she asked, ".......Mr. Malfoy?"

As he stopped in his tracks, he grit his teeth and closed his eyes.

Draco turned around to face the secretary again with his expression relaxed and all sign of worried aggravation gone from his pale face.

".....Yes?" He asked.

The secretary giggled as she pressed, "Do you have any plans tomorrow? On Saturday?.......I've heard you're a lonely man."

"I'm sorry." Draco said with a frown that seemed almost too hasty, "The nature of my birth has changed that. I'm afraid those rumors are incorrect."

The secretary blinked before a frown formed on her face as Draco nodded at her again, turned on his heel, and took his leave of the Auror Department before she could call him back once more.

That was the fastest walk he had ever taken to the Ministry's Floo chimneys.

After escaping his unwanted admirer, Draco appeared in the large fireplace of his massive bedroom a few moments later once the green flames produced by the magical powder transported him home.

He had hoped to greet his darling with a kiss, but his grey eyes softened as they fell on Harriet and noticed that she lay asleep in her nest.

Draco stepped out of the fireplace and drew a deep breath as his gaze flickered over his beloved.
