The death of Patroklos laid in the hands of Hektor "breaker of horses" (22.64)

Who was the greatest of warriors Troy had to offer

But the death of one of the "children of Priam" (22.357) was in the hands of Achilleus

This the great Hektor presumed and dutifully, he rode to his fate

With courage that "was shining like the flare of blazing fire" (22.37-38)

Which did not falter even as he went past the walls of Troy

Though he stood his ground as he left the gates behind

Upon seeing "Peleus' son" (22.41), did Hecktor's steps falter

And "as when a hawk in the mountains who moves lightest of things flying makes his effortless swoop for a trembling dove" (22.42-43)

The "swift-footed Achilleus" (22.133) drove after Hektor

Who shamelessly fled around the city of Priam

Forgetting his courage as easily as a child would forget its playthings

And so "Zeus the gatherer of the clouds" (22.85) send his daughter

To remedy the reputation of the greatest warrior of the Trojans

But the scales of death had already tipped towards Hektor

As Apollo had forsaken him for his sickening cowardice

And the God of Death favored the "sons of the Achaians" (22.59)

For their valor and bravery

With speed "like hail or chill snow" (22.54-55) in a raging storm

Achilleus drove his spear through Hektor's neck and dragged him through Troy with horses

And thus, the great Hektor fell from his throne to the soles of a horse

Destroying the pride of both himself and his Trojans by one reckless act
