Midoriya tapped his pen against the desk, staring absentmindedly out the window. At the front, the teacher was droning on and on about the importance of fire-exits in multi-story buildings. Someone in the room let out a quiet sigh, and the sounds of pens being dropped against open notebooks and the creaking of chairs as they were leant back in followed filled the room around him. They learned about this in middle school. Another wasted lesson.

Midoriya could hardly believe it. Their replacement teacher was about as competent for teaching as a potted plant. Their methods were so mind-numbingly dull even Iida and Momo looked bored. Then again, maybe they were being too harsh. No other class had made complaints against Akio-sensei, but... nobody else had had Aizawa-sensei as their teacher. There was no replacing him, they all knew it. Nobody would be able to engage the class as he did, nor could they bring even the lowest grades up just in time for final exams.

Ever since Akio had taken over, roughly half the class had dropped a grade or two, including Midoriya himself. Truthfully, he hadn't been as dedicated with his studying as he had been ever since that night.

At midnight, shortly after the events of Blue Crossed had calmed down, Midoriya lay awake and stared at the ceiling. He thought about a lot in the darkness of his room. His mother, One For All, Blue Crossed, his new family, U.A., Bakugo.

Bakugo.

He turned to look ahead, straight over the desk in front of his and to the back of Hagakure's blazer. Images flashed in the back of his mind, blurring his vision and the sounds of his shouting mixed with Bakugo's sounded like it was echoing off the classroom walls. He screwed his eyes shut and sunk lower in his seat. Flashbacks of that night were common for all of them - Kaminari included.

The electric blond had been more or less taken in by the family. After his uncle was arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment, the authorities had scoured the archives for any remaining blood relatives he could be sent to live with. And just their luck, an aunt had been found within Musutafu. Apparently she had been the sister of his father, but the siblings had cut ties after they were caught on opposite sides of a divorce war between their parents. All the same, Kaminari had taken up residence with her. She had no children of her own, or partner, and spent the majority of her time at work, but it was still an improvement from his uncle. The lonely hours he would spend in the isolation of her house soon turned into family game nights at the Aizawas - their attempt at keeping their broken little family together.

And it worked, for the most part.

Soon enough, Iida was joining the fun occasionally, as well as Todoroki, much to everyone's surprise. Midoriya was still to confirm what their relationship was, but Neito and Hanta had a sneaking feeling they had it all figured out.

But then his thoughts were dragged back to Bakugo, the name weighing him down like a ball and chain. After their fight in the alley, Bakugo had been arrested and taken away. Midoriya wasn't told where, but there was something surreal about not seeing Kacchan for so long. They had been in the same class since they were toddlers, and suddenly the blond had disappeared for an entire year.

"Midoriya?"

Midoriya's head snapped up, his startled gaze landing on the teacher. Akio must have seen the panic in his eyes, since he told the boy to stand.

"Sorry, sensei, I wasn't listening."

"Evidently." Akio deadpanned. "Sit down."

Midoriya stared down at his lap, more embarrassed than guilty.

Finally, the bell rang and class was over. He could feel Akio's eyes burning into him as he packed away his books, but he kept his eyes down to avoid another confrontation.
