I was sitting at lunch with Robin, who recently became a really great friend to me after Steve got a job at Scoops Ahoy. We were taking to each other about our day when he plopped down beside me at our table, forcing me to scoot over and make space. He slung his arm around me, placing it on my left shoulder, and pulled me closer to him.

"Hi there." He spoke. It was a strange approach, but it worked, I guess. Robin and I were holding in our laughter, but for a moment, I couldn't help but realize how gorgeous he actually was. "Hi." I replied with a smile. "I'm Eddie." Of course I knew who he was, Eddie "the freak" Munson, as my brother called him. Dustin and I agreed that he was just jealous that he had an older, male friend with nicer hair.

"Oh! Munson, right? I'm Robin." Robin spoke from across the table. "I'm Sage." I flashed him a smile. There was something about him... when I was around Eddie, he brought out a side of me that I couldn't help but love.

Eddie decided to sit with us for the remainder of our lunch time, before we said our goodbyes and headed off to our next class. I didn't want it to end, though. I never knew someone could make me laugh as hard as he did. I couldn't help but love the way he made me feel. He made me think that maybe, just maybe, my final year of high school wouldn't be as bad as the years before.

But I knew Steve wouldn't be happy.

I held a directory in my right hand, trying to figure out where I was supposed to go to find my next classroom. 137, I thought. I found it and walked through the open door, trying to find myself a seat. I didn't know anyone here, really. Even though my brother Steve was so popular around here, I couldn't say the same for myself. Because I knew Robin didn't have this class, I chose a seat in the very back, with nobody sitting beside me.

The bell rang, and to my relief, I was left alone, being the only one not paired up with somebody else. Or so I thought. Of course, someone decided to be late, on the first day. I opened the door and my heart skipped a beat. I must've been imagining things. No, certainly not.

It was Eddie Munson.

A large grin appeared on my face, almost instantly. I wish I could say I remember anything our teacher had said that class period. But I don't.

I was too busy becoming Eddie Munson's new best friend.

Eddie and I walked out of the building together after we joked about what happened during class. In the distance I spotted Steve's car and said my goodbyes.

"Sage! Are you kidding me?" Steve said to me as I entered his car.

"What?? I literally just sat down!"

"Eddie "the freak" Munson!? Really?" I sighed.

He must have saw us walking together while he waited to pick me up.

"Yeah? So? We're friends!"

"What made you want to be friends with someone like him?" His face scrunched up.

"Steve. I'm one year younger than you. I love you, but you can't keep doing this! You're not my mom, and you don't get to decide who I become friends with." I looked at him with seriousness, hoping he'd take the hint and drop it. To my surprise, he did.

"You're right, I'm sorry..." I put my hand on his shoulder and gave him a smile.
