After the Max incident we all headed over to the Wheeler's house and had a big sleepover in their basement. Dustin was supposedly in charge of watching Max.

I was trying my best to ignore the voice I was hearing, until I realized who it was.

"Hey, Dustin, this is Eddie the Banished. You there?"

"Dustin? Can you hear me?"

I forced myself to wake up as I grabbed the walkie.

"Dustin?"

"Eddie, it's Sage. Need something?" I spoke, trying not to sound too tired.

Nancy woke up as I spoke to Eddie.

"Oh, hey, princess!" His voice lit up.

I tried to hide the smile on my face as Nancy watched me.

"Um, I'm gonna need a food delivery, like, really soon. Unless you want me going out into the world."

"Let's not do that. Just hang out at Rick's for a little longer and we will drop off some food. As soon as possible."

"Will you stay with me?" He asked.

"I wish. Look, next time I see you I'll explain, but some pretty serious shit happened and I don't think I can just sit around."

Silence.

"I'm sorry." I said.

"Don't apologize, sweetheart. Um... can you pick me up a six pack? I know, it's stupid as shit, drinking right now, but uh, a cold beer would really calm my jangled nerves since, y'know, you can't stay with me."

"We'll see." I looked up at Nancy to see her panicking.

"What happened?" I said to her.

"Max! She's gone." She said as she ran over to Dustin.

"Eddie, I hate to do this to you but I've gotta go."

"No, please."

"I'll see you when we drop off the food. Promise."

I ran over to Nancy and Dustin.

"Dustin!" She pushed his chest, trying to wake him up.

"Mm."

"Wake up!"

"What?"

"Aren't you supposed to be on Max watch?"

"Ohh.. yep, yep, yep!"

"Okay, then where is she?"

"She's right there. A second ago. I swear, I just dozed off for... an hour.."

We all ran upstairs, trying to find Max. Luckily for us, we found her sitting at Nancy's dining table, drawing. Nancy let out a sigh of relief.

"Morning, guys!" Mrs. Wheeler greeted us.

"Everything okay?"

"Yeah. Yeah, everything's okay."

"I think it's so sweet that you guys are sticking together like this."

"Could try sticking together at a different house for a change." Nancy's dad spoke and I gave him a glare. Nancy walked over to check on Max.

"You know you're welcome anytime." Mrs. Wheeler said to Dustin and I and I smiled.

"Thanks."

"Totally. You're like family." He walked over to the pancakes. "May I?"

"Absolutely!" She handed Dustin and I both a plate.
