Sadie woke up to the sound of muffled yelling, coming from somewhere above her.
She went to sit up but realized her hands and feet were bound together. She soon came to realize that there was tape over her eyes and mouth as well.
Panic started to build in her chest as she tried to wiggle free, but the bindings did not give.
The floor was hard and cold beneath her. She tried to take a calming breath but it was hard when her nose was the only place she could take a breath from.
She startled as she heard a door slam open, and the sound of feet stomping down stairs.
She held her breath as she heard them step closer to her.
"If I take this tape off your mouth, don't scream."
Said a stern, yet soft voice.
She nodded in understanding, feeling a warm hand briefly before the tape was gently peeled off.
"You alright?"
He asked, the question felt genuine.
"My head hurts."
Sadie whispered
"Go get some aspirin and water."
He barked orders to whoever else was in the room with him.
"But boss-"
There was another voice, nervously interjecting.
"Did I stutter?!"
A moment later she heard the sound of footsteps going back up the stairs.
"You wanna sit up?"
He asked again with the same gentle tone.
She hesitated for a moment before nodding yes.
He helped her up, placing her back against the wall.
She again heard steps on the stairs, and the shuffling of feet coming closer.
"Here boss."
"Here take these."
The gentle man took her chin in his hand.
She clamped her jaw shut, what if it wasn't aspirin they were trying to give her.
"Lil Mama, open your mouth....I promise it's just something for your head. I got water too."
She hesitated before allowing him to place the pills in, along with a few swallows of water.
Another set of footsteps made their way downstairs, joining what Sadie assumed to be two other people.
"How'd we do, boss?"
She could tell it was a younger male, he sounded nervous.
"How did you do?...How did you do?!"
The man who had helped her asked furiously.
"You started somethin on that bus that you had no business startin! And then you go and kidnap a girl?!"
"But-"
"No buts!...We don't take kids! That's not what we do!"
"But she saw everything!"
"I didn't see anything!"
Sadie spoke up
"Please I won't say anything, I swear! Just please let me go!"
She choked up on the last sentence, feeling hot tears behind her eyes unable to fall due to the tape.
There was a pause before she heard the man again.
"What's your name?"
He asked
"Sadie"
"Sadie what?"
She thought for a moment, knowing her answer could either kill her....or save her life.
"Voight....Sadie Voight."
