Walking back up to the first basement, I got to the medic wing door. I punched in the code. The pad didn't light up, and the door didn't unlock. I knew from what Alexi said that sometimes they shorted out and died, so there was a key close by. Except the key wasn't where it normally was, and I was getting a nasty feeling resting in the pit of my stomach that something was very wrong. Trying the handle it didn't open, not that I actually thought it would.

Looking through the small window on the doors, I couldn't see a damn thing out of the ordinary. All the normal lights were on and the inside was clean.

Walking back down the hall, I lightly knocked on Dr Martin's closed door. I heard someone coming, so I waited. Not more than a moment later, he opened the door and Alexi was sitting on his couch. It was clearly their session time. I felt a little bad for interrupting his session, but he didn't look upset or annoyed.

"Sasha, What can I help you with?"

"Could I borrow your key? The one that opens the Medic wing, the keypad, it's busted and I need to have Caleb look at my hand."

"I'll have a new one ordered." Alexi sighed from the couch, pinching the bridge of his nose.

Zev came back and handed me his key.

"Just bring it back when you're done. In case someone else is going to need it."

"Of course. Thank you. I appreciate it."

"You are very welcome."

I walked back down the hall after getting the key and shoved it in the lock. Opening the door, nothing looked out of place at all. Hell, it even still had the same nasty alcohol clean scent. I didn't even hear Caleb moving around the wing. It was going to be really inconvenient for me if I had to have someone take me to the normal hospital to have my hand checked out. I would so much rather just have Caleb take a look, then I wouldn't have to make up some stupid story about how it happened.

Checking a few of the smaller rooms in the wing, I didn't see Caleb. I pulled out my phone to text Ryer, but I heard someone cough from the fucking supply closet. Who the hell would be inside the supply closet?

"Caleb? Hey you here?" I shouted.

Whoever was in the closet was trying their hardest not to cough, but they broke out in a coughing fit. Grabbing the handle, I turned it, but it was also locked.

"Go... Away."

That was Caleb in the closet, but what the hell was doing in there?

"Caleb, I don't know that hell is going on, but it's fishy and I'm breaking down the door!"

"Don't. Just don't..."

I kicked the door in and Caleb was on the floor, a bottle and syringe beside him. Coughing blood into a cloth napkin.

"Caleb! What the fuck have you done?"

He shook his head. He probably thought the same thing as me at that moment, That he was trying to end it all.

"You... have this all... wrong." He said strained, coughing more blood into the cloth.

"What did you take? How can I stop this?" I panicked.

"Too late."

"No! Tell me how to fix this!"

"Stage four cancer." He groaned out. Before coughing more blood up again.

"I'm going to get—"

"Stay!" He yelled hoarsely, patting the ground beside him. I knew I had to get Maddox, but I couldn't just walk away. He was dying.
