Ryer told Demitri to go ahead of us as we left the basement. He caught me off guard when he grabbed me by the neck and shoved me against the wall, not hard enough to injure me. But it was enough to shock me.
"What the fuck was that back there Sasha!"
"I was doing your job."
I lightly tried to push Ryer's handoff from around my throat but he wasn't letting up. He tightened it a little more.
"You were not doing my job."
"I got the answer you wanted."
"You stabbed him. Even after he gave the answer you were looking for."
"He hurt you first, it was well deserved."
"Sasha keep this up and you and Cade will be great fucking friends."
"What the hell is that supposed to mean?"
Ryer removed his hand from around my neck. He walked away from me.
"Ryer I'm fucking talking to you!"
"I'm done talking to you. I have a fucking job to do."
"I'm not done fucking talking to you."
Ryer stopped and turned around. His eyes narrowed at me. I wondered if Ryer was upset with the fact I called him my partner, maybe that's what this was about.
"Are you pissed off because I called you my partner? I'm sorry if that made you pissy."
"You think that's what I'm pissed about?"
"What else is there for you to be pissed off about."
"When you really think about it and realise let me know."
"Ryer that's not fair. I don't even know what you are pissed about."
"Your behaviour."
"You are mad because of the way I acted when I was questioning him."
He said nothing more, and I knew I hit the nail on the head there.
"Ryer, Whatever image you have of me, what you saw in the room is part of it. There are some ugly parts to me. They trained me to hunt down and kill. I was good at it. You don't just take that out of someone. There's a reason the Feds wanted me."
"I don't want you anywhere near here again. Get the fuck out of the basement, Now!"
Ryer's voice echoed off the walls as he yelled at me. I walked past him, angry. I stopped, turning back around one more time.
"You're fucking welcome by the way."
I left the basement.
Getting back to the wing, I could see why he was a little pissed, he really hadn't seen that side of me. Ever. But I expected someone less dramatic than what he made it out to be like. For heaven's sake, he was part of the mafia and was chewing me out for my behaviour. What a crock of shit.
My phone rang on the nightstand in the bedroom. Grabbing it, Alexi's name flashed over the screen and I picked it up, not even thinking twice about it.
"Hey Sasha, You busy?"
"Nope, I have nothing going on."
"Feeling well enough to do a nightclub round with me, I have to meet with the manager of some of our clubs, Ivy Blare. Creed is working with Cade tonight and the others have gone to get some products back."
"Sure, I'm free."
"Good, I'll bring you something to wear for the night. I'll be down to pick you up shortly."
