It was 7:40, when they sat in the car again the next morning. On the dashboard sat Mr. Miller Junior or might I say, The one and only Mr. Miller Junior. Now equipped with a black shell and Mohawk. He didn't look particularly scary so they decided against using him to scare the basketball team. But he did get a makeover and they'd be sure to safely return him to his enclosure, looking rather rad, just in time before there would be any big concerns regarding his whereabouts.
Julia thought back to last night when they had stayed up late trying to perfect him.
~
Julia sat on her bed working on Mr. Miller Junior, some record by Tears For Fears was paying and Eddie was looking through her music collection. He was muttering to himself as he picked up one record and put down the next. Eddie liked music, a lot, they shared that interest. He was even in a band called "Corroded Coffin" and played at The Hideout on Tuesdays. Julia had seen them preform a few times now, they were really quite good and they seemed to enjoy what they did, big crowd or not.
Eddie had picked up a 1986 record by "The Cure", the album was called Disintegration. He walked over to the player and lifted the needle before swapping out the records. Soon the track, "Lovesong", sounded through the room.
"How is Mr. Junior coming along?" Eddie sighed as he jumped onto the bed.
"I'd say pretty well actually." Julia said as she held up the turtle to look at him from a better angle. "I think he's almost done!"
"Would you do the honors of the mohawk?" She said, while handing Eddie the turtle and the tiny red mohawk she had made out of some paper. Eddie grinned at the animal and quickly put some glue on the paper and stuck it to the piece of tape on the back of its shell.
"Perfect!" He smiled as he put the animal down. After a few minutes he got bored and stood up.
"Do you want anything from the kitchen? 'Cause I'm hungry."
"Ehm, just a glass of water."
"Boring!" Eddie joked as he walked out the room.
When he returned Julia was painting her nails. Usually she kept them natural but seeing as she too had been struck by boredom, her nails were the ones to suffer. After observing her work for a while Eddie had finally worked up the courage to ask.
"D?"
"Mhm?"
"Do you, uhm,-" Julia looked up from her work, Eddie never really had a problem finding his words, so now that he did she seemed surprised.
"- think you could do mine as well?"
"You mean paint your nails?"
"Yeah.."
"Uhm, YES! Of course!" She said excitingly as she jumped off her bed and ran into the other room. A few second later she came back with a few different colors of nail polish, and dropped them on the bed.
"Should I be concerned about how much you want to do this?" Eddie chuckled.
"There's no turning back now, pretty boy."
Eddie laughed as he looked through the colors, he eventually settled for a black color, he figured he'd start off simple. Eddie watched as Julia grabbed his hand and delicately started painting each of his nails. She really made sure to pay attention and work with precision.
"All done." Julia smiled as she admired her work. Eddie didn't dare to say a word, too scared he might screw up the paint some how, but by the look on his face Julia knew he liked it.
