Dustin and Mike

After the shenanigans at lunch, i was just ready for a nice calming afternoon of being completely ignored by my peers. However, all was interrupted during my free period when 2 boys approached me.
I had heard their loud conversation previously.
"Go over and ask her!"
"Mike, I've literally never even seen her before.."
"Yeah.. no shit. She's not our year."
"That just makes it worse!"
"Just go and fucking ask her Dustin."

Anyway, they awkwardly walked over to me and motioned to get my attention.
"Hi! Umm, my name is-"
"Dustin. And you're Mike."
I said, cutting in. The looks of utter horror on their faces made me laugh internally.
They then started to whisper to each other,
"Shit- is she in our class?" Mike whispered
"Im not in your class. Sorry for my rudeness. No you're right i am new, i just happened to hear your rather LOUD conversation."

They laughed when i told them
"Oh sorry about that.. how old are you?" Mike asked
I smiled
"16."
"Oh ok. Dustin and i are both 15."
Dustin then started speaking "Mike im sure she doesn't give a shit. We uhh- came to ask you a question."
I pulled a face and slouched a little.
"Fire away."
They looked at eachother briefly.

"So we were wondering, our friend has a basketball game on, and we have a rather important game on tonight. He can't make it- and we were wondering if you could take his place?"
I paused for a moment, contemplating it. Then I thought back to lunch. Their group seemed fun, despite the crazy long haired guy.
"What game is it?" I asked
"Umm, dungeons and dragons, i don't know if you've heard of it.." Mike said
"No I've heard of it. I used to play actually."
They both smiled
"Great! So will you play?"

I make a small smile
"Yeah. Could be fun."
They both high fives and laughed.
"Great!! The game is after school, wanna hang out until then?" Dustin asked.
"Sure."

We all sat on a bench,
"Hey we never asked your name."
"Oh my name is Y/n."
Mike smiled
"Thats a nice name." Dustin shot him a glare.
"Dude- calm down you have a girlfriend!"
"What?! Its just a compliment Dustin geez calm down."
I just awkwardly laughed, before a girl joined us a while later.

"Max! Tell Dustin that complementing someone isn't cheating!!" Mike yelled.
The girl, Max replied, clearly trying to wind up Mike.
"Totally cheating."
"What the fuck.." Mike huffed
"So who's the new girl?" Max asked looking at me.
"Thats Y/n, she's taking Lucas's place in hellfire." Dustin said.

Max grimaced, "you have no idea what you just got yourself into Y/n.. they're a bunch of weirdos. Im surprised you found someone."
I laughed
"Nah, i like Dnd, and if its any consolation, people don't always consider me normal."
Max smiled
"Well, good luck. Im goin' home now."
Dustin huffed,
"What is her problem."
