A side note: I advise you to listen to "In the middle of the night", a song by Elley Duhe while reading this chapter (especially the "night" part of the chapter). It just hits different and you'll see why it's the reason that this fanfic is titled like that.

For the rest of the cruise trip, Chan and Yona spent most of the time in their room - kissing, cuddling, and making love. They joined other passengers for the cruise shows and events but used their free time more for themselves. The three-day trip was almost over.
"What are you thinking about?" Chan asked, caressing Yona's back as they lay naked in bed, on their final night of the cruise. The pleasant wind cooled down the room.
She snuggled more on his chest, letting out a sigh, "We'll arrive at the kingdom in the morning. We'll have to be extra cautious about everything once we arrive," she paused, hugging him tighter, "I won't be able to hold your hand when we're walking, we can't kiss and hug when we want to, I'll spend most of my time in school, and you'll go on missions again," Yona couldn't help but cry. Seeing her shoulders trembling, Chan hugged his girl and kissed her on the head.
"I know, babe... It saddens me too but we have to do it - it's our new reality. Your family won't approve of our relationship and we have to accept it," he talked.
Yona raised her head, a tear falling on Chan's chest, "Let's run away then!"
Her statement shocked the male but he thought about it and laughed, "We can't do that, love. What about your school and my royal army duties? We can't just drop all of that and run--"
"Yes, we can!" Yona sat up, "I'll leave behind everything - the school is finished, I just need to open it, after that I'll quit being a princess, it's too much work anyway, you can quit the army too, and we'll go somewhere far away and live like commoners, we'll find jobs and--"
"Yona, we can't!" Chan raised his voice and it took Yona aback. He sat up and took her hands, continuing in a soft voice, "Listen, let's not make this more difficult than it already is... We'll go back to our duties and do everything we did before this vacation, nothing will change, we'll still find time for each other. And when the time comes, we'll tell your family, hoping they'll give us their blessing."
"And what if they won't?! I can't live without you, Christopher!" Yona's loud voice was followed by more tears sliding down her face.
Chris hugged the princess, holding in his tears, "I know, my princess," he broke the hug, their foreheads touching, "I love you, you know that," Yona nodded and cried, "And I will never leave you. But for now, let's enjoy this moment and not think about what's going to happen, alright?" she nodded again. He pulled her back on top of him.
The princess and her "commander" kissed and hugged until they fell asleep on the warm summer night, on their last day of the cruise.
