"Commander! Wait!" Lieutenant Sawyer-Galeforce shouted. Indigo didn't hesitate for a second before bolting out of Office, vaguely registering that Lieutenant-Commander Saeturn and Lieutenant Galefore were back. "It's no use! She's probably dead by now!"Not yet, Indigo thought, focusing on her breathing and the rhythm at which her feet were hitting the ground. Don't bring up the image of the Disconnected message at the sight of where Security would be at Admin. Not yet. Soon, but not yet.
Are you seriously going to do this for an idiot who literally runs into danger?
Shut up.
Are you seriously going to do this, though?
I said shut up!
What kind of person risks their life for someone who was basically begging for death?
"Shut up!" Indigo growled softly, before coming to a halt at the entrance of Security.
Or, at least, what was left of Security.
The roof had caved in and wires were strewn about, still letting out sparks. A faint set of footprints were still there, leading to what used to be the entrance. Indigo calculated the time that Justice would have had to enter, then the angle of which the roof had caved in, and then the subconscious reaction speed that would affect where she would had ultimately landed when the roof fell. Picking her way carefully across the rubble, Indigo reached a spot maybe ten or so feet from the door and lifted one piece of the roof away.
"What the-" a voice behind her said. Indigo whirled around and saw Lieutenant-Commander Saeturn standing there, shocked. "How did you-"
Indigo shrugged, as if to say, You aren't the only one who spent extra time in training. Then, she briefly pointed back to the rubble as the snow started to fall harder. Are you going to help or keep standing there?
She didn't wait for the Lieutenant-Commander to answer and pulled another smaller chunk away. Her heart stopped when she saw the wooden die twenty that Justice always carried. Indigo pocketed the die quickly just as Lieutenant-Commander Saeturn came up and nodded towards the largest piece.
With a grunt, both of them lifted the section of the roof off and Indigo also stopped breathing for a moment. She took off her backpack/air filtration system and started an emergency oxygen transfer as Lieutenant-Commander Saeturn cleared the rest of the debris off of Justice.
The air was coming in a bit thinner now, but Indigo didn't care. She took Justice up in her arms and ignored the blood that was staining her suit, lifting the captain up and starting to carry her to MedBay. Indigo didn't know if Justice was even breathing or not, but wasn't going to stop until Cinnabar showed her proof of death. Don't die. Please don't die...
---------------------------------------
"That was the most idiotic thing that I have ever witnessed," Cinnabar muttered, coming into Lab from MedBay, "and I've witnessed a lot of idiotic things. Actually, that's the most idiotic thing in the history of idiotic things to do. But in any case, the captain is tentatively stable, although I'm not sure how much you can count on it staying that way."
Winger glanced around. Petri was swirling something around in a beaker while Beta watched, Omega, Forte, and Odyssey were talking, Clasher was fuming against the wall, and Blue was fiddling with something in their hand again, not bothering to clean up the blood on their suit. Winger looked again for Sunset before remembering that-
No, don't think. Don't think, don't think, don't think. Winger held back tears and a sob and focused.
Everyone in the room seemed to either only be remotely concerned or more scared for the fact that the earthquake had been just narrowly avoided. After all, the captain hadn't really made much of an effort to connect with the crew.
