Cinnabar knew that Petri was going into a downward spiral. It happened every single blasted time that someone who he knew closely died. Like, everything was his fault. Not that it was, but there were more effective ways to spend crucial time after a death. If Cinnabar had died, she'd want the survivors to look into who exactly was the killer, and how to stop them."Alright, alright," Cinnabar said, slamming a hand onto the table. "Where was everyone when the body was reported? I was in MedBay, and I know Forte was the one who reported the body, so-"
"Can we really trust everyone that they were where they were, though?" Omega asked. "Since now we know that the Impostor can vent, isn't it possible for the Impostor to lie about where they were?"
Cinnabar sighed. "Yeah, you're right. Okay, how about this. Who was the last person you saw and where did you see them?"
"Oh boy," Clasher started to count off his fingers. "Thirty minutes ago, Omega in Electrical, Odyssey in O2 five minutes later, Commander in the Boiler Room around ten minutes ago, and Winger in Weapons right before the meeting was called."
"That's... kind of unnerving, don't you think?" Petri pointed out.
"Dude, I'm a freaking security officer. It's my job to be unnerving."
"Guys, focus," Cinnabar said, waving a hand. "Did you all also see Clasher?"
All of them nodded. "The last person I actually saw was Odyssey, though," Omega remarked. "Maybe fifteen minutes ago. I think he walked out to get something from Storage."
"Where Forte was?" Petri asked.
"Supposedly." Omega turned to Odyssey. "Did you see him?"
Odyssey nodded. "Why? Am I supposed to be blind and without a VISOR? Yeah, I saw him. I didn't stick around, though, so how am I supposed to say that I was the last person that he saw?"
"Because you were," Forte replied, probably rolling his eyes. "I didn't see anyone else until Beta."
"Alright." Odyssey shot back. "How about you, Commander?"
The Commander shrugged and pointed towards Clasher, as in a he was the last person I saw sort of way. Cinnabar found that kind of strange, since it only took maybe seven or eight minutes to open the waterways, and no matter what way she went, she should have ran into either Omega or Winger.
"That's... kind of sus," Forte pointed out, voicing Cinnabar's thoughts exactly. "I mean, wouldn't it be possible for you to have left Boiler Room through a vent, come out where Beta was, and just kill them? Then, when I came into the picture, panic, and get back into the vent before pretending to come here in time for the Emergency Meeting?"
Odyssey snapped his fingers. "I really hate to say this because it would be putting suspicion on someone, but you're absolutely right. How long does it take for someone to die, anyway?"
"Hang on, but that would mean that we would be adding the time that it took to presumably pull Beta up from the lava as well," Clasher argued. "Could the Commander really get all of that done in ten minutes?"
"You said around," Odyssey protested. "That means it probably could have ranged anywhere from twelve to nine minutes. Besides, you're a security officer. You should know that Impostors can have enhanced abilities compared to someone who's not infected."
"Guys, just because so-and-so only saw someone ten minutes ago does not mean that they're the Impostor," Clasher said in an exasperated tone. "And may I ask you how long ago did you see Forte in Storage compared to where the body was found?"
