Something's wrong, Tal warned.Well, if you could tell me what exactly is wrong, that would be great, Indigo thought back. I have a lot of other problems to worry about.
Tal sighed internally, then took control for a moment and the wire cutters fell out of her hand with a clatter. Indigo clenched her hand shut, but it was still shaking.
Justice jerked around and sighed when she realized that it was just Indigo. "Hey, Indie, you alright?"
No! Tal shouted. Tell her that no, it's not alright and to stop fixing Node IRO and run! A stupid weather report isn't worth your lives!
The lights went off with a bang and they both froze. Well, why are you standing there?! Tal screamed. Run!
"Tal, I sincerely apologize for this," Indigo muttered. She grabbed Justice's wrist and dragged her into the nearest building, the Boiler Room. Afterwards, Indigo went back out to try and erase the footprint and drag marks as fast as she could, then went back.
"What's this—" Justice started to say, and Indigo put a finger to her helmet in a 'shush' gesture. In a quieter voice, Justice hissed, "What's this about?"
"Against the wall, get down," she replied. "Stay quiet. There's something wrong going on. I can't put a finger on it, but something is definitely wro—"
A scream pierced through the air and shattered the silence. "Forte," Justice muttered. "Is he...?"
Indigo cursed under her breath. "No. He's not dead. That was a scream of frustration. He's going into the fifth stage. If I had to guess, he just killed Odyssey. Come on, against the wall and get ready to pounce."
The drip-drop of the water the pattering onto the ground was the only sound for a while. That, and their heavy breathing. Then, the sound of snow crunching could be heard outside.
He's here.
Forte? That's not something to be really afraid of...
No, Dax. I can feel it. Kor was right when they said that Dax was waiting. Forte on his own can be handled, but with Dax in him...
Both of them jumped as the doors closed with a much larger bang than when the lights went out. Unfortunately, Boiler Room didn't have a door, so they were still vulnerable to an attack. Indigo probably should have thought about that before shoving both of them in here.
Indigo slowly unholstered her gun. Justice might have given her a 'what the heck' look, to which Indigo shrugged. She wasn't planning on using it, but if worst came to worst, all she needed to do was remove the safety.
Tactical, Weapons, and Security were the only three branches of MIRA whose members were authorized to carry a firearm on a mission. Usually it was never stronger than a nine millimeter, and was concealed in a pocket on the underside of their backpacks/air filtration system.
However, since Tactical specialized in dealing with Impostors, they had the right to carry other weapons in the case of a hand-to hand situation. Indigo fished out a collapsible knife and offered it to Justice.
"You're getting the big guns now?" Justice asked in a joking tone, taking the knife and flicking it out. The blade was around nine inches when fully extended, and could do a shockingly large amount of damage in the hand of the right person.
"I'm closer to the door and I'm in front of you," Indigo explained in a low voice, "I don't want to accidentally shoot you, Captain Run-into-Danger." She pulled out some more rounds and strapped them to the side of her leg.
