When I opened my eyes, I was in a bright room with my dad sitting by my bedside. "Daddy?" I said weakly.

"Hey, Sweetheart," he said softly as he hurried over to hug me.

"Where am I?"

"You're in the hospital."

"Where's Mom?"

"She's on her way."

Just then, I saw Michelle coming out of the bathroom. "How is she?" she asked.

"Michelle?" I said, confused. "What are you doing here?"

"Your dad called me," she said lovingly. "I wanted to make sure you were okay."

"Sweetie, what happened?" Dad asked me. "Why'd you do it?"

I didn't answer. I felt so ashamed of myself, and so frightened of how everyone would react to my reasons.

"Was it that video Liana posted on Facebook?" Michelle guessed.

"What video?" Dad asked.

"Liana posted a video of them playing Truth or Dare. I reported it, but not before saving the video to my phone and screenshotting all the comments. They were saying horrendous things about her."

"I need to see that video later."

"I'll send it to you... and the comments."

"Was that what it was, Sweetie?" Dad asked me.

I nodded, but then, I hesitated. That was a reason, but not the only one. It certainly wasn't the main reason.

"I don't think that was the only reason," Michelle suggested.

I shook my head.

"Okay," said Dad, "what else was it?"

I froze yet again.

"It's okay. You can tell me. Was it Mom?"

I slowly nodded my head.

"What did she say?"

"Sh... she took my bear and my sweater blanket," I said, trembling, "and... and..."

"And, what?"

"She told me I'm not allowed to be Honey's friend anymore."

"She what?" Dad was shocked to hear this, but he turned to Michelle for confirmation.

"It's true," she said. "She called me up. She was screaming into the phone, telling me my daughter was a bad influence on Maddie, and she said they're no longer allowed to be friends."

"Oh, my God, I..." Dad hesitated. "Wait, but Honey was the one who called me."

"Wait, what?"

"She told me to check on Maddie, and see if she was okay. She said she didn't know what it was, but she had a bad feeling. She–"

"She saved Maddie's life."

"Where is she?" I asked as tears formed in my eyes.

"She's in the waiting room. Do you want her to come in here?"

"Yes." And, with that, I began sobbing uncontrollably. "Please."

"Okay." Michelle pulled her phone out, and texted Honey to let her know. "She's coming, Sweetie."
