I fell asleep like that, with my head on Travis' shoulder. I woke up the next morning in my bed in my cabin, still wearing my clothes and not completely sure how I got there.
I changed into fresh clothes and went to breakfast. I looked for Travis in the mess hall, but I couldn't find him. Not having anything to do that day, I grabbed my book, that had been left on my bedside table, and went to my garden.
I got to Act II in the book and found a line had been underlined with pencil. "I know a bank where the wild thyme blows, Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows, Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine, With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine."
I've read this book more times than I can count, and that's never been circled before. There was no way this could be happening to me, to Katie Gardner. I've never had a boyfriend, never even had many boys like me.
Suddenly, there was a puff of smoke, and who other than Aphrodite appeared. She smiled at me. "Remember what I said Katie? Stop doubting yourself. Go." And as quickly as she came, she was gone.
I knew that if there was ever a time I needed to listen to a god or goddess, now was it.
