Just a reminder that I do not own PJO/HOO or any of the characters except Christina. Probably a good thing, cuz my best friend would have killed me by now for throwing Percabeth into Tartarus.

4 hours later, I was sitting on the subway next to my friend Christina. We were on the way to her house, my refuge during the school year for when my dad was being too insufferable. Which was a lot. As far as Christina knew, my dad started drinking when my mom died, and was mean when drunk. Only part of that is true. My father rarely drinks, and my mom isn't dead. Cuz, you know, immortal goddesses don't really die. Yeah. You saw right. My mother is Demeter, the Greek goddess.

That's actually how I know Connor Stoll. We go to the same demigod summer camp, Camp Halfblood. Connor and his brother Travis are sons of Hermes.

"Katie?" Christina asked. "Are you okay?" I realised that I had been staring at the subway wall instead of talking to my friend. "Yeah, I was just thinking about summer camp starting up." (I had told Christina that I went to a camp for the children of alcoholics.) "Oh. I thought it had something to do with that hottie you were waiting on today." she said with a grin. "Chris, you're just a little bit boy crazy. You know that, right? And besides, table eight wasn't my type." "I'm not talking about table eight, silly, although that guy was hot. I'm talking about table six." I thought for a second about who had been at table six today. "Oh my gosh, Chris!" I exclaimed. "You think Connor is hot!"

"Um, we'll talk about how you knew Mr. Sixy (yes, she said 'Sixy'. Very punny, that Christina.) later. How did you not think he was hot?" "Cuz he's a total ass, Chris. And besides, his older brothers the cute one." Wait a second. Did I say that?

"OMG OMG! Has someone got a crush?" Christina chimed. "Eww, no. Not on a Stoll." "Oh puh-lease. You totally do; you're blushing!" I briefly wished Christina knew about my mom so I could wrap a vine around her mouth. "Katie likes person! Katie likes person!" she whisper chanted. Yep. Definitely wish I could wrap a vine around her mouth.
