That night, at about 8:30, I followed Miranda to Travis' birthday party. "Why exactly did you know where this thing was gonna be, Mir?" I asked while we made our way through the strawberry fields.
"Connor just came to me before he came to you, and he knew we would be together, so he didn't bother explaining the directions a second time." "Oh, ok. I guess that makes sense."
After a roughly 6 minute walk, we arrived at the party. It wasn't really what I would have expected from a Stoll party. There were only a dozen or so people, and the music was actually good. The first song I heard was King of Carrot Flowers pt. 1 by Neutral Milk Hotel.
When Connor turned his head and saw us his eyes lit up, and he ran over. He hugged Miranda, and then me. Maybe it was just me, but he seemed slightly more enthusiastic about hugging my sister. Maybe that's why she knew where the party was going to be.
Miranda followed Connor back into the center of the group, while I stayed on the edges, wondering how long I had to stay to be polite. Actually, screw polite, these are the Stolls we're talking about. They've never been polite a day in their lives.
I tried for a minute to catch Miranda's eye, but she never looked at me. Eh, she'll figure it out. I turned to leave, but someone grabbed my wrist. I turned. Travis.
"You're not leaving my party, are you Katie Cat?" "Uh, I was." Travis pouted. "But Katie," he whined. "It's my birthday party, and I want you to stay." I rolled my eyes. "Fine, Stoll."
He grinned goofily. "Awesome. Come with me."
