At The Lake

My shift in the fields ended at 1:00, just in time for lunch. I could've gone back to my cabin to wash my hands, but the lake was closer to the dining pavillion, and I was hungry after sleeping through breakfast.

I bent down and tried to scrub the red stain off my palms. "Stupid strawberries." I muttered to myself. "I thought children of Demeter were supposed to love all plants." said a voice from behind me. I turned around and lost my balance. I would've fallen into the lake, but an arm wrapped around my waist.

"Woah, Katie Cat. You gotta be more careful around the lake." "Stoll! You almost made me fall!" "And then I saved you." I remembered his arm was still around me. "Go away!" I said, pushing him off. "But I don't want to!" he said in a sing-songy voice. I turned to face him, giving my best death stare. "I do not care what you want, Travis."

I started walking towards the dining pavillion, and ignoring Travis, who was following me. "That isn't very nice." I kept walking. "Neither is ignoring me." I kept walking. "Come on, Katie! What did I ever do to you?" I turned my head slowly. "What did you ever do to me? What didn't you do? You and your brother have harrassed me from the day we met." "Ka-" "Go away, Stoll. Now."
