Eleven years ago

"Daddy, tell me a story!" I pleaded.

"Alright," He chuckled. "Which one would you like to hear?"

"Tell me one about you," I said.

"Hmmm," He put his fingers on his chin. "Let me tell you about the day I got my form and element."

"It was certainly a shock that I didn't get my form or element at first. The entire class was laughing at me. I couldn't do anything but stand there."

"Oh no!" I exclaimed. "So what happened?"

"Oh, it was a pain for me. Everyone bullied me. But I kept believe that it was an error and that I would get a form."

"And then? What happened?" I asked eagerly.

"And then, my dear," he poked my nose. "I got my form."

                                                             ********************************

I'm in a cubicle crying.

I know crying isn't going to get me anywhere, but I can't help myself.

Peppi and Caleb tried to comfort me, but they weren't much of a help.

Nobody understands the real reason I'm crying.

The fate of my father has now landed on me. At least he got a form at last.

I don't know whether I'm will ever get one or not.

I wiped my cheeks hard. I want to ignore the people.

But I can't.

I forced myself to my feet and made my way out of the cubicle. The bathroom tap water was freezing cold, but I still splashed some onto my face.

I have to face reality.

                                                           ********************************

I turned left after leaving the bathroom. Big mistake.

"HEY BELLA!" A voice cried out. I turned around and found myself face-to-face with Allison and her trusted lackey, Audrey.

"It's Nella," I said.

"Whatever~!" She said in a sing-song voice. "So, you just became the first person to not get a form or an element! How do you feel?"

I glanced at Audrey. Her phone's camera had a blinking red light. She was recording me. Me, the pathetic play-thing for them.

"Shut up," I tried walking past her, but she restrained me.

"What is your problem!?" I yelled. "Me not getting powers is none of your concern."

"But it is," she grinned. "It helps me confirm that you are a total loser." Then she leaned close to my ear. "Caleb is not going to like such a pathetic idiot. He's just being nice."

I pushed her away. Big mistake.

Allison extended her hand and a bright light danced across her palm. Suddenly, as if I was choking, I couldn't breathe. My feet was off the ground.

Through my heavy breathing, I heard them laughing. A crowd has gathered around us.

"Fight back~!" Allison taunted. "Oh wait, you can't!"

I want to. Oh, I want to.

But I can't.

All I could do, was to cough. I am starting to see stars.

"Let... me... go...!" I sputtered.

"I can't hear you~!" She sang. I gritted my teeth. Somebody help me!

By now, the entire crowd was laughing. I coughed even more.

"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING!?" A voice boomed. "LET HER GO!"

With some effort, I tilted my head to see who.

It was Peppi and Caleb.

Peppi pushed Allison hard, but her grip on me didn't loosen.

"Heh, not strong enough," Audrey laughed.

"TRY ME, BITCH!" Peppi yelled.

"Allison, let Nella go!" Caleb shouted.

"Aw, Caleb-baby, you don't care about her, do you?" Allison cooed. Caleb didn't reply. Instead, he extended his hand. A bright light shot out from his palm and hit Allison in the chest. She fell, and I tumbled onto the ground, hitting hard on my head. Blood, dark red, spilled out.

"Ah, you hit me!" Allison screamed. "I'm telling my parents."

Caleb moved towards her, and her words died out.

"Get lost," he said.

The crowd, including Allison and Audrey, parted immediately.

"Ngggg..." I groaned. I wanted to thank them, but my head hurts so much.

"Shit," Peppi sweared. "Caleb, you know anyone who can heal her?"

"We have to go to the nurse," Caleb heaved me onto his back.

The last I heard was Peppi's reassuring voice.

Then darkness swallowed me.

                                                      ********************************

The first thing I saw was the bright white walls around me. I squeezed my eyes shut immediately. It hurts.

"Holy- Nella! You're awake!" Peppi's voice rang out.

"Mmm... yeah..." I mumbled.

"You okay?" Came the voice of Caleb.

"Yeah..." I sat up. "Thank you, by the way. I would defend myself, but even god forbids."

"Those two BITCHES!" Peppi stomped her feet.

"It's fine... I deserve it anyways," I looked out of the window.

"Don't you start believing their stupid words," Caleb said sternly. "You know you can't trust one bit about their words."

"But it is true!" I said it louder than I meant to. "I don't have powers, and now I'm the laughingstock of the entire school, and I don't know what my purpose of staying here is."

"Look," Caleb said. "We could ask somebody why this happened. I'm sure there is some explanation about this."

I wanted to believe him, but who? Who can answer my questions? Who can understand me?

There is only one person I know.

"So when can I leave the nurse's?"
