The next day of school was... different.

Miss Wendy was very grumpy the moment she stepped into the classroom.

"Class, listen up!" She said in an unusually loud voice. "Today, we are having a test!"

Tests? She never gives us tests, she said that on the first day.

"What... kind of test?" Caleb asked.

"Young man, you are to raise your hand when you wish to speak!" Miss Wendy yelled at him. Caleb shrank back to his seat.

Miss Wendy never calls us 'young man' or 'young lady', and she never minded if we didn't raise our hand when we ask a question.

She handed out some paper. (Really, I was thinking of some magic test so that I could skip it.)

The paper was full of questions about the boring school stuff we learnt in normal schools.

Why are we having a test on those in a magic school!?

I did those questions with some difficulty, as I already forgot the things I have learnt in normal schools.

Peppi was frowning.

"Something's off about Miss Wendy," she said.

"Maybe something happened?" Caleb suggested. I nodded.

After that unnecessary test, Miss Wendy told us to go outside and train our magic while she was to go to do something.

Here's our chance.

"Miss Wendy, can me, Peppi and Caleb go to the bathroom, please?" I said politely. Miss Wendy grumpily nodded, not even questioning why the three of us have to go at the same time.

We headed to the direction of the bathrooms, then quietly followed Miss Wendy.

She headed to a room, labelled 'Principal's Office'. We hid behind a wall.

I remember Miss Wendy mentioning the principal before.

Miss Wendy's voice spoke up first.

"You called, Principal?"

"You look grumpy," came a middle-aged voice.

"Of course I am! Those two headmasters are blaming us for something we don't even have!" Miss Wendy yelled.

"Yes, about that..." the middle-aged voice trailed off. "Daisy and Luke are requesting us to let them come and inspect the school."

I almost yelped a little.

"Absolutely not!" Miss Wendy yelled. "What if it happens on that day? They are bound to capture the person!"

I looked at Caleb slightly. I have a bad feeling that I know what they were talking about.

"But if we deny them, they will get suspicious," the voice replied.

"Then what? Tell them to come here to not let them suspicious!?" Miss Wendy said again. "It's mad!"

"We have to, it's the only way," The principal said. "But, we should keep an eye out for students who might have a chance to experience that... thing. Then, we could tell them to stay home tomorrow."

"Ugh, fine," Miss Wendy grumbled. "I'll be going now."

"Miss Wendy," said the principal. "Stop being so childish."

I realised that we should have gone away while we could.

Miss Wendy pushed open the door and I hoped against hope that she would head the opposite direction of us.

She didn't.

Quickly, I smoothed down my hair and walked out. We needed a distraction.

"What are you doing??" Peppi hissed.

Miss Wendy saw me.

"Oh, Nella," She said grumpily. "Why are you here? The bathroom's the opposite direction."

"Uh- yes!" I said. "But I couldn't find it. Could you show me the way?"

"Sure," She said and walked past Caleb and Peppi, who were hiding behind a pot of tall plant.

After I went to the bathroom, Peppi started asking questions.

"Looks like you two know what they were talking about," she said. I anxiously looked at Caleb. He kept a straight face.

"Nope, no idea," Caleb said.

"Are you sure..?" Peppi narrowed her eyes.

"Yeah, we don't know what that 'thing' they talked about is," I squeaked.

I could tell that Peppi didn't buy it, but she had no choice but to accept.

I do need to be careful. I have a churning feeling in my stomach. That sign before...

                                              *************************************

Miss Wendy started telling us about the plan tomorrow.

"Alright class, remember the other magic school I told you about? Well, the headmasters have required us to give permission to search for... something they have lost, in which they believe is in our possession. "

Murmurs rose again.

"The principal of this school has given permission for them to come tomorrow, so I want everyone to be on their best behaviour. They will only come for a short period of time, so don't worry."

She sounds like she's reassuring herself more than us.

"What do you think they will be like?" Peppi whispered. I shrugged slightly.

Caleb's eyes were empty. Probably thinking about that 'Luke' person.

Speaking of which, I do need to ask my mother about this situation. I don't think my stomach has stopped churning like a washing machine since yesterday.
