Endless Possibilities

A Quiet Lake

Peace and quiet every once in a while is always so nice. I'm glad that I'm able to come here every other week. Outside the bustling and noisy city. The trees that surround this little lake, it's always been nice and quiet here. My little paradise, not too far away from my uncle's place.

Although today it seems a little too quiet, no sounds of the wind blowing through the trees, no sound of any life, just dead silence. The hairs on my neck start to stand up. Something is not right here. I slowly walked away from the area and started to walk back to my uncle's place. Then there was a loud screech that filled my ears, my then walking pace turned to a sprinting pace. The screeching continued and it seems to be getting louder. I finally saw the road, the screeching still getting louder followed by heavy steps behind me.

I finally got to the road, then it stopped. All I can hear now is the beating of my own heart and my heavy breath. I looked behind me to see nothing but trees. Unbeknownst to me it had already gotten to me.

I had gotten back to the city. I haven't returned to the lake ever since the incident.

I was going back to my place when I heard a familiar screech. I turned my head to see a big hideous monster. The head of a person but extremely disfigured, what seems like blood flowing down the face.

I didn't stay long to look at it any further and I ran as fast as my legs could take me. Unfortunately for me, it wasn't fast enough. It caught up to me. As I fell to the ground, I closed my eyes accepting what I thought would be my death. It screeched one last time.

As I opened my eyes I was back to the little lake. This time though it looked very different. Leaves no longer on the trees, the lake water replaced with a red liquid. As I stared at the lake I could see my reflection, my face now disfigured, blood flowing down from my eyes, my mouth permanently open, ears missing and my body beyond explanation. There were the sounds of steps behind me, I looked behind to see a white light in the shape of a person.
