Something felt off, the air seemed thicker as Yuna walked through the streets of Konoha underneath the moonlight towards the Uchiha compound. Something just didn't feel right, it felt like Shisui's death all over again and that very thought caused her pace to quicken as she began to sprint towards the Uchiha compound. What if something had happened to Itachi? Losing Shisui was the hard, but losing Itachi as well? She couldn't fathom the pain that had begun to well in her chest as she imagined the worst case scenario until her feet brought her to the gates of the Uchiha Clan. It was oddly quiet, no lights were on and she couldn't hear any sounds other than the crickets chirping.

Maybe everything's okay, maybe Itachi is fine. She thought silently walking her way into the compound.

Blood, there was blood everywhere. Yuna gasped, blood was on the walls and bodies lay every which way.

"ITACHI!" A scream forced itself out of her lungs as she began to sprint through the streets looking for her friend. Yuna activated Shisui's sharingan, the itching feeling of death looming over her. She slammed to a halt when she saw the two, watching as she found Itachi in his ANBU uniform and Sasuke shaking.

"Itachi! Sasuke!" Yuna sprinted towards the two but was slammed back by a masked man.

"Now, now, what do we have here? The famous Senju, but with the sharingan... how interesting?" Yuna looked up at the man completely horrified at the man in front of her, his chakra was massive up close.

"You-" she gasped, she could hear someone hit the ground with a thud, she turned her head slightly to see Sasuke on the ground.

"SASUKE!" she screamed, tears had risen in her eyes and her sharingan began to burn. Her head was suddenly slapped back to the man in front of her as he gripped her chin and forced her to look in his eye.

"Ah, I remember you now. You were so young back then, thinking you could face me. I wonder if you even remember me?" He chuckled before raising his knife and pressing it against her neck.

"Don't worry, it'll be painless..." he had started pressing the knife into Yuna's neck as she struggled to breathe. The knife had pierced her neck, but this masked man was taking it slow almost as if he would enjoy watching the life fade out of Yuna's eyes.

"Get off of her" Itachi growled, Yuna couldn't see him but knew that Itachi was angry, up until this point remorse and sadness had shook his very being until he saw Yuna, his best friend about to die. This was not what he agreed to.

"She has the sharingan. She has to die." The man chuckled again, by this point Yuna had grasped her hands around the one holding the knife desperately trying to push him away.

"She is not an Uchiha, now get off of her." The man sighed removing his chokehold and the knife that was on her neck before getting up.

"Make it quick," he vanished into thin air leaving Itachi to look at the broken girl in front of him. He was suddenly called back to the night Shisui died, Yuna was bleeding from her neck wound. Itachi watched as the girl struggled to sit up, gasping for air. Her sharingan had deactivated as she turned to Itachi.

"What the hell did you do." It wasn't a question, her voice shook, her throat in pain as her voice ached with malice and anger as she met his gaze.

"Itachi, answer me. what the hell did you do?" Itachi felt numb at her question, how do you tell someone who's already suffered enough that you, their best friend had just murdered his entire clan and was now leaving you..

"Yuna, I-"

"After all we have been through, you didn't think to tell me you were planning this?" Her gaze had drifted to Sasuke and before Itachi could say another word the girl was up, she pushed past him and slumped at Sasuke's side.

"You killed Sasuke... you killed your own brother..." Itachi started to walk towards the two, she was cradling Sasuke, tears running down her cheeks. He tried to place his hand on her shoulder before she swatted him away. Her hands beginning to glow green as she forced her remaining chakra into Sasuke's chest.

"This was not the plan Itachi, this wasn't supposed to happen. This wasn't the fucking plan." her voice pleaded, sobs erupted from her chest and Itachi felt his own heart break as he gazed upon the scene before him.

"I'm sorry," he whispered, tears falling from his own eyes now as he gazed at the two.

"I don't understand" she whimpered clutching his little brother tightly, her purple hair had hung over her face but Itachi could see her tears fall upon the boy in the moonlight. The ANBU were approaching, he had to move quickly.

"Yuna, don't show anyone your eye."

"Itachi, I don't understand" she raised her head to meet his gaze, once her eyes locked with his he whispered out one more sentence.

"Protect Sasuke, please forgive me Yuna," and with that he trapped her in a genjutsu. The girl slumped over next to Sasuke. Darkness consumed her mind as she was left to dream watching Shisui die over and over again in her mind.

"I'm sorry Shisui..." Itachi held back a sob as he walked over and started cradling Yuna, placing a soft kiss on her forehead before slowly removing her and standing up.

There was no time for regret, he had to make his report to the Hokage before leaving the village. Yet, he found himself turning around and staring at them for one minute longer before sprinting off into the darkness.

"First, you have my thanks. Civil war has been averted. We have maintained peace" Itachi stared at the ground, not daring to look at the man before him.

"I have one request." Itachi stated before looking up at the hokage.

"Yes?"

"I ask for protection from the village for my younger brother Sasuke and Yuna Senju." The Hokage turned around confused at the request.

"Why the Senju? Does she know something?" Hiruzen asked as the boy shook his head, desperate to protect his sister.

"She knows nothing, but she found Sasuke. I'm concerned for her well being especially after this incident."

"Ah, yes, Shisui Uchiha died a year ago... they were together, correct?" Itachi nodded, trying to keep his composure. What would Shisui think of him right now?

"She was my best friend as well, do not let her come looking for me." Itachi spoke as Hiruzen nodded.

"Very well Itachi. I apologize for what you have been put through."

Itachi left the leaf village, another bond broken.
