Why does time have to go by so fast? It appears it was literally just yesterday that my daughter, my little flower: Violet Rose Elliot was born and brought home from the hospital. Growing up far too fast for my husband and I, but we do so love to see her grow. So much has happened this past year, about 3 months after Violet was born, I went back to work. Though Joe told me I didn't have to, but he supported me and that meant so much. I started working for Kiss again, doing road manager stuff and producing a bit, Violet by the way quickly got a passport just in case for travel.... but anyway, we did take her to our home in Beverly Hills and all. But I digress, each milestone Violet hit, made me cry and glow with pride: crawling, walking and her first words.

At 9 months of age, my daughter started talking. My husband and I were back at our London home after having traveled for work and all the previous week and we were sitting at the table fixing to eat dinner, when suddenly we heard:

"Hey da-da an' mummy!"

Joe and I dropped our forks with a clatter, hoping we weren't hearing things....

"Did she just..." I trailed off sharing a look with my husband.

"Flower...did you..." Joe asks, both of us eager and sure enough.

"Da-da an' mummy!" Violet makes grabby hands and immediately she was scooped up in joy, both my husband and I crying tears of joy.

"Oh, princess you talked!" I gushed tearfully and this too was the day she also walked.... that had come after dinner, when I was playing in the floor with her...Joe, washing dishes, she stood up little arms held out and took off...., "Joe!!" MY husband rushes in and stops short in shock.

"Tom, blimey she's walking!" Joe kneeled and our daughter carefully toddled her way to him, Joe beaming with joy as I join them, my husband wrapping us in his embrace.

Which brings us to now: today is Violet's first birthday and we are back in London, we'd spent a few weeks in Beverly Hills, my husband is still sleeping, and I kiss him gently on the lips. He doesn't stir, but there is a smile on his face as if he knows it's me, carefully I tip toe out of bed to Violet's room. Violet is still asleep when I enter the room, I stand over her little bed and gently smooth back her hair.

"Love you little flower, happy birthday!" I whisper, and next thing I know she wakes up and it seems she realizes it's me.

"Mama?" Still a little sleepy, but so far, she seems to be in a good mood.

"Do you know what day it is today princess?" I ask her, picking her up out of her bed.

"Birday! Birday!" Violet chants, excited at said prospect of her birthday. Suddenly I feel Joe's presence, and sure enough I feel his arms wrap around me then our daughter. "Daddy birday! My day!" Joe tickles her, making her giggle.

"It IS your birthday flower; some little girl is a year old today!" Joe kisses her little cheek, but then she points to me—

"Kissy mum!"

"Well, you heard our daughter angel. ---" I go to say more before I feel my husband's lips on my own. Afterword's, I am at a loss for words for a moment till I find my voice. "Love you, Joe."

"Love you too Tom." Joe and I turn back to our daughter. "And we love you, how bout' some breakfast? And then later you have uncles and aunts and everyone coming over to celebrate your day poppet."

"Weawy?! Yay!" Violet claps her little hands as we share a laugh and head downstairs and fix breakfast, bite sized chunks of fruit, some bacon and oatmeal for Violet and Joe and I too have the same. There is much laughter, kisses and so much more---
