THERE WAS A PRAYER. One that Dylan Cornett was forced to learn the moment he was old enough to understand. It went like this: Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. If I shall die die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take. His father would come into his room at night and make him recite it. On his knees, against his bed. He never really understood religion. If anything, it scared him.

It was like a big, black void that people fell down in hopes of finding something, anything to consume their fear of death. The idea of it was simple to him. Dylan believed that when he dies, he'll finally be at peace. He'll finally get his chance to rest.

He clung to that like his parents clung to God. That was the only thing that comforted him. Not the prayer, not his Father forcing him to be a good, Christian man. Just that. That after death, he no longer had to worry about who he could or could not be. After the police left, Dylan hoped that Chrissy was at peace. Whatever happened to her, whoever was at fault, he just wished that the suffering was over for her now.

And there wasn't a single piece of him that believed Moonie Carver was at fault. Sure, she had her moments, but doesn't everyone? That didn't make her a murderer.

He wasn't even sure if Eddie the freak Munson had anything to do with it. But Jason was fully convinced that he did.

Bennys Diner was full, yet again. All of the basketball team had crammed into the center, circled around a table while Jason was on the other side. Dylan was quiet, standing next to an equally silent Lucas Sinclair a few feet behind their team captain. He'd been on a rampage since the cops went.

Jason tore out a page from last years yearbook before slamming it against the surface of the collapsable table, it was a picture of the schools D&D club. Dylan learned that from Moonie. Jasons finger found its way right onto his culprits face, "Eddie Munson. He's apart of that freak devil cult, Hellfire."

"The cops," He continues, lifting his head to look at his team. Dylan kept his mouth shut. Right now, there was no possible way to get through his friends head. "They say Chrissy went to him and my sister to buy drugs." Jason informed, moving to grab the open yearbook. He flicked past three pages before finding the one with a picture of the girls soccer team.

Moonie stood in the center of the group, hair glued to her face from sweat though a huge smile found its way to her lips, her hands holding up a large, golden trophy that read FIRST PLACE. When she became Captain, they won state.
