Chapter 34

I felt strong arms wrap around me as Akutagawa held me, Rashoumon encaging us in the darkness as his fingers caressed my cheek.

Rashoumon cut through the rock hand, making the rubble fall around us as Akutagawa turned to Ivan.

I watched as Rashoumon slammed into the ground behind us as Ivan laughed.

"A pretty trick up your sleeve. I'm impressed that your ability was able to hold out against my own. It seems there'll be a lot of pain to be had before my bliss." Ivan started as he raised his arms, a whole bunch of rocks lifting up behind him too.

"Now, wretched dogs, it's your-" Ivan started to say when Rashoumon slammed into him from behind, stabbing into his back and coming out from his chest as he immediately grew silent.

Ivan dropped to the ground limply as I frowned.

"That easy?" I half-whispered as Akutagawa glared at Ivan's dead form.

"'Even the ground you stand on is your enemy.' I'm afraid to say, those words have been directed at my enemies countless times." Akutagawa said as the stone giant crumpled.

"You alright?" Akutagawa asked, turning to me as the dust settled around us.

"As good as anyone who's affected with the cannibalism effect can be." I said as Akutagawa had a cold look in his eyes.

"What?" I asked as Akutagawa clenched his fists.

"You don't have long. What's taking the weretiger so long-" Akutagawa started but a sudden movement caught us off guard when a large rock came heading towards us.

I didn't have time to block it but Akutagawa pushed me out the way before he was hit, crashing behind as I rolled onto my legs.

"Akutagawa!" I shouted as I turned around to see Ivan's dead body, no longer a dead body, but a clay like substance.

"A golem... It's a fake." I said, gritting my teeth as I whirled around, running towards Akutagawa.

"Akutagawa!" I exclaimed as he clicked his tongue in annoyance, when there was a bright light flashing above him, making my heart stop.

"The virus..." I started when a familiar maniacal laugh echoed around us.

"My master being joy to this godless world. Evil is the one who stands in his way." Ivan said as he broke through the stone giant, revealing himself inside as I turn my deadly glare at him.

"Now that the both of you are infected with the virus." Ivan started as he started laughing again, shoulders shaking as I clenched my fists.

"I don't care if my ability isn't working. I'm going to kill you." I threatened as I leapt forward, pulling out my knifes as Ivan raised an arm, sweeping it out in my direction as I rolled to the side to avoid getting impaled by rock icicles.

"Y/n!" Akutagawa called from behind as I saw a rock heading in my direction from my left.

I felt something zip past me as Rashoumon shredded the rock as I ran towards Ivan who had rebuilt his stone giant.

"Akutagawa, throw me." I said as I jumped up when a tendril of Rashoumon landed beneath my feet before boosting me up as I appeared right in front of Ivan.

Desperately, Ivan tried catching me with the stone giant hand but I twisted mid air to land on the hand before running towards him.

I leapt forward, blades flashing as I threw two in his direction.

Unfortunately, Ivan dodged as I flipped and pulled out more blades before landing right next to him and lunged forward, to slice that crazy head off his neck when something wrapped around my ankle and flung me.

It happened so suddenly, I couldn't even stop as I just raised my arms around my head to protect it as I rolled to a stop.

I coughed, lying on my back.

"That was painful." I said, wincing a little when suddenly the ground beneath me become liquid as I fumbled into a sitting position.

Akutagawa was also caught in the liquid as I tried to push myself upright.

"Shit." I said as I couldn't free myself from the devouring liquid.

"You two are strong. There's no end to this. I'll have you drown." Ivan said as he dropped down from his stone giant to walk up to us.

"Isn't this cheating?" I mumbled under my breathe as Ivan only smiled.

"Farewell." Was all he said before he turned around, heading back.

I struggled in the mud-like liquid as Akutagawa glanced at me.

"Y/n." Akutagawa said as I sighed.

"What?" I asked as when suddenly Rashoumon came rushing towards me.

Instinctively, I raised my arms to protect myself, not expecting it when the tendrils of black cloth slowly wrapped around my arms.

"Do you have it?" Akutagawa asked as I blinked, glancing up at him.

"The thing?" I asked as Akutagawa nodded.

"Yeah. But it's pretty useless from this far." I said when Rashoumon tightened around my wrists and waist making me send a small glare in Akutagawa's direction.

"If you think this is a good time to fight, I will kill you after." I threatened when Akutagawa rolled his eyes.

"Dazai-san always sent us on the same missions, why?" Akutagawa asked as I paused before sighing.

"Because apparently we make a good fucking team." I hissed out as I turned to Akutagawa.

"You sure this will work?" I asked as Akutagawa nodded as I sighed again.

"Fine. But I swear if you try doing anything weird, I'll shred Rashoumon." I threatened as Akutagawa stared at me.

"Just worry about what you have to do. I'll protect you."

- - 3rd POV - -

There was the sound of something breaking as Ivan whirled around, eyes widening in shock as he found half of the space gone.

"One of them is missing! The whole ground's missing, space and all." Ivan said as there was sudden movement.

- - Y/n POV - -

I watched as Ivan had a shocked look plastered on his face when he couldn't see me as I smirked.

I reached behind my back and my fingers snaked around the hilt of the gun.

Total darkness encompassed me as I was hidden from view.

Rashoumon was looming over my shoulder as I glared at Ivan who was frantically whirling around.

"Pay back time." I said as I stepped out of the shadows, the light hitting me again and I pulled out the gun pointing it at Ivan.

He whirled around when he heard the soft click of a gun loading as I stared at him.

"Bang."
