Day walks out of the president's office looking happy. I take that as a good sign.
"What happened?"
"Everything went perfectly."
"Then let's get outta here, shall we?"
"Lead the way princess."
I smile, not even bothering to punch him. It's scary not knowing when or if you'll see someone you care about again. I'm glad to see he's safe.
We walk towards where Kaede was supposed to be holding off the soldiers and run into two beat-up soldiers carrying a prisoner~ ~from the dungeon to the president's office. She looks like someone I know. I take another look and realize... I recognize her because she's my mother. "Mom!" I shout, running towards her. Day follows in confusion. "Mom! Is that you?"
She looks at me, "Justine?" Her gaze goes to Day, "Day?"
"Yes!" I shout in relief, before realizing she knew Day's name... How?
Day beats me to the question.
"How do you know my name?"
"I took care of you when you were little, remember?"
"Wait, you were the nice lady who took me in? Wait then you'd be..." He trails off, looking at me then switches his glance to my Mom. "Hold on, she's not my sister right?"
My Mom laughs, "no."
Day and I sigh in relief, then I immediately run to hug her. Day runs off back in the direction of the president's office, but I'm too happy to care.
