Justine is pretty dang bad at hiding the fact that she's got the hots for someone that's just flying in the air-and I'm not talking about Misty. We ride in silence to the Inner Inside. It's not like we could hear each other anyway. Suddenly I see a figure standing alone, in the middle of the dragon territory. No normal person would be in the dragon territory during feeding time. I tell Misty to head down. I see a girl standing, just staring at the dragons above. Justine and I jump off the dragon. "Stay." I tell Misty. We take a moment to study every part of this girl before approaching her. She has blonde hair, but a large strip of it near the front of her face is black, she has the lightest shade of blue possible colored eyes, she's tall, pale, and strong. Justine walks up to her first.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" The girl jumps back, obviously nervous. "Don't worry, I'm not with the government."
"Sorry, who are you?" The girl asks.
I jump in, "I'm Day, and she's Justine, we were not genetically edited at birth which is why we look this way. Who are you?"
"Were you edited at birth?" Justine asks.
"The name's Kaede. And yes, but it went horribly wrong. I'm too strong, my hair isn't blonde enough, I'm too tall, too pale, and I've got no freckles. Since the experiment went wrong I also have super-speed, but I have no social skills and no smarts. It sucks. So, I was banished to the Outside. This is my favorite place to come." She gestures around the dragon territory.
I decide to take a chance, "well, Kaede, I know we just met you, but . . ." I look at Justine for approval, she nods. "We want to stop genetic engineering on humans at birth. We are headed towards the Inner Inside now. Would you like to help us?"
"You think it'll work?" Justine and I nod. "Let's do it."
We jump on the dragon--Kaede, a little unsurely. But we make our way to the Inner Inside in silence, all of us scared, but none of us showing it. We arrive, say goodbye to Misty, and snag some hats off a clothesline to disguise our faces and wrongly-colored hair. We decide to split up into two groups, Justine and Kaede in one and me in another. We couldn't have Kaede on her own based on her warning of having no social skills.... We each go our separate ways to persuade the public after choosing to meet in the same spot in exactly one hour to start the next phase in the plan.
This part of the plan is pretty easy for me. Thankfully, I think I got the side of the Inside that houses desperate single ladies. All I gotta do is tell them my opinion, bat my eyelashes, and blow a kiss as I leave the house and they suddenly have the same thoughts as me.
We all get back to the meeting spot in an hour, both groups with the same good news. We figure out our plan for the second and final phase. "Let's do it." I say. The two girls nod. We walk out right as the public starts protesting. Perfect timing. Kaede leads the way-she'll be the distraction. We find a soldier probably sent to check on the protesting situation. Justine knocks him out and gives his uniform to Kaede, who throws it on and runs to the government building.
Justine and I loop around the building and get inside it through the garbage shoot. Inside, Justine fights off the soldiers while I run ahead, towards the president's office. I see no soldiers in the way. I guess Kaede and Justine are doing a good job of holding them off.

Ciencia FicciónI wrote this in 7th grade, so there are a few cringey parts but I do think it's really good other wise. Also, there was a word limit so it's a fairly short read. This is a dystopian novel about genetically editing humans with a fair portion of roman...
