There's some dude coming towards me. He thinks he's so sneaky, but obviously I can hear him. I just choose not to show it.
At the last second, when he's a step away from me I jump up and pull out my homemade dagger. This guy better not try anything stupid.
Once I turn I see that this guy is alone-and he has dark blond hair-darker than what the government approves of. After I see that I can't focus on any other attributes about him or if he's going to attack me or not. All I can see is his hair, all I can think is is this the guy?
"Are you genetically edited?" The guy asks. I am still looking at him in wonder, I don't respond. "Cuz if you're not then, you probably dyed your hair, put some colored contacts on, and are working with the government to try and kill me since I'm obviously not genetically edited. Right?"
I pause to take in all he said, and say a bit rudley-I'll admit, "take a hint dude, just look at my hair."
"Well, for all I know you could've dyed it cuz you're just out to get me, yeah?"
"If I were 'out to get you' then why am I alone? Why can't you see the people I'm supposedly working with?"
"Dude. They would clearly be hiding in the tall grass. What are you, stupid?"
"Nope. And just to clear it up, I'm not genetically edited, neither are you."
He rolls his eyes, "great. Anyway, are you just living on the run or do you have a goal or something?"
"Both," I vaguely say.
"Fine. Be that way. Should we stick together and TAKE DOWN the Republic?" He says in a pretend deep voice.
"Let's do it. We should get going now."
"Yeah," he says, leading me away from the green, deer-filled field and into beautiful rows of poppies.
