It's a pretty silent walk and I can't say I mind. Being alone with my thoughts sounds pretty good right about now. I need to figure out how we will be able to pull this off. Eventually, I decide in order to get into the center of the Inside we'll have to disguise our not genetically edited bodies. Unless of course, we don't mind getting shot by soldiers before even changing anything. I'm sure Day wouldn't be too appreciative of me being the reason he dies. Great. Now I'm thinking about Day.
Day interrupts my thoughts. But they were about him, sooo I can't say I mind. "Hey, do you think we should stop for the night? I mean, we've been walking for two hours since we left the other spot...We want to find a nice spot to stay for the night that's actually safe, and we're about to enter the dragon territory. I mean I love dragons, but sleeping with them hovering over us would just be creepy, yeah?"
"Yeah that sounds like an actually good idea coming from you for once."
'"Gee thanks." Day mumbles. Then I realize what I actually just said, and-WHY?!? That's so mean!
I try to turn it around by punching him playfully and saying, "hey I'm just kidding with you." And thank goodness that works. Not gonna lie though-my people skills need some work. I've been on my own for 11 years... I don't know how to act around people!
"Alright let's lay down here." Day says, pointing towards a grassy point on a hill that overlooks the dragon territory without entering it. The minute I lay my head down I fall into a deep, dreamless sleep.
I wake to find my head resting on Day's slowly rising and falling chest. I jump up in surprise, accidentally waking Day himself in the process.
"Sorry." I mumble.
"It's fine, we should try to get on the road as early as possible anyway." I'm about to agree, but before I can, a cute little blue and gold DRAGON comes up to-greet? Day. Day pets the dragon and says, "Hey Misty, how you doin?" I look between the two with total confusion on my face and as if he were reading my mind, Day explains, "Oh sorry I totally forgot about you!" I glare at him. He laughs, "So this is Misty, my little dragon friend, she's super fun and nice and stuff. She's also a super talented swimmer and flier."
"THEN WHY DON'T WE RIDE ON HER TO THE INNER INSIDE!?!" I yell-ask Day.
He blinks very calmly, looks at me and smirks, "Well, I guess I just forgot."
"YOU FORGOT!?! YOU FORGOT YOU HAVE A DRAGON FRIEND!?!"
    "I guess so."
"Unbelievable." I roll my eyes, "Ok well that's what we're doing now."
    "Yeah sounds good."
Day tells the dragon what we will be doing-as if she can understand him. While he does that I put my hair in a ponytail so it doesn't fly around when we are riding on the dragon. We both finish what we're doing and then Day raises a hand to help me up the dragon. I bat it away angrily and climb on myself. His smirk just grows as he climbs up behind me and wraps his arms around my waist. Just for the fun of frustrating him, I shake my ponytail in his face.
He just says, "You're pretty cute when you're mad, you know that?" Which just makes me blush fiercely and makes me even angrier for failing at making him mad.
