The sounds of Bdubs yelling wakes everyone in our dormitory early on Friday morning. As I try to understand, still too tired, I definitely hear Jellie's name mentioned multiple times before the cat runs into my own room, jumping on my bed and meowing desperately.

'It's alright, Jellie. The mean little man didn't mean it.' I sit up.

'LITTLE?!'

Apparently, Bdubs heard me, so I'm forced to get up, still holding Jellie as I go to definitely take my statement back. Standing in the doorway of his and BigB's room I say.

'Ohhh, sorry. You're not little, you're miniscule.'

'Right, that's it.' Bdubs stands up, showing off his full height (smaller than me). 'First your cat annoys me, and now you insult my height?!'

'You insulted Jellie first, actually.'

'Alright, alright. Stop fighting.' Grian comes in with a sigh of amusement. 'Scar's right, and Bdubs is short.'

'You're literally smaller than me, shut up.'

'So... who wants breakfast? Magic toast anyone?' Without thinking, I speak

'Magic toast?'

It's then that I realise Bdubs is still there and he doesn't know.

'Uhh... magic toast. It's a joke between me and Grian.'

'It's just bread, but he says it's toast in disguise. After he broke my actual toaster.' Grian walks past, grabbing some bread. 'See? Magic toast.'

'It's not magic, and it's not toast.' BigB's appears, frowning. 'What makes it magic toast?'

'The fact I say it is.' I declare, snatching the bread from Grian's hand and eating it plain. I force it down, handing Bdubs his own slice. 'What class is it this morning?'

'PvP. According to Martyn and Martyn only, they managed to get Dream and Technoblade to show us how to fight.' Replies Grian, taking and eating his own plain bread. Completely confused, and not even in PvP class with the rest of us, BigB joins in too.

'That'll be fun. I think I have redstone class...'

'Boring... poor you, still on the piston door module?'

'We moved onto farms like you did.'

'Done whatever homework there is for today?' Grian decides to eat a second slice of plain bread.

'Yeah, but badly. Bdubs tried to help me but it didn't work.'

'What do you mean, I'm the best at redstone.'

'Really?' I'm starting to think I have a genuine redstone coach, but Grian's sarcastic 'yeahh...' back makes me think twice.

'Well, I'd better get ready for today... very nice magic toast though.'

'As good and bland as it normally is... Grian's about to start on his third slice when Bdubs steals the bag from him.

'Stop eating plain bread! I know people call you Grain, but that's not an excuse!' Their joking argument continues as I enter mine and Grian's bedroom to get dressed.

Me and Grian are equally surprised about the fact we leave on time for lessons, and manage to meet some friends outside. Namely, Ren, Impulse and Martyn.

'Hey guys!' I run over, pleased that Impulse is still alive, though looking very tired.

'Scar! Hey dude!' Smiles back Ren. 'How are you doing?'

'Good. You?'

'I'm alright. Impulse is... unhappy, so be sensitive.'

'What happened?'

Ren's expression makes it seem like I should know. Grian explains anyway.

'Principal.'

Remembering, I don't mention any more, just nodding. We continue to PvP class, outside and towards the second largest building. I know I'm rubbish at it, but that doesn't mean it's not fun, and we arrive surprisingly early.

'Where's Skizz? You two are normally together.' I realise, knowing I shouldn't talk to Impulse.

'He's too tired. Didn't sleep at all last night. Too worried about me...' The bell goes and he jumps, just as the teacher enters, dressed in his classic knight armour.

'Alright, class. Today it'll just be 1v1 sparring, since I know a lot of you have other stuff to worry about. In other news, there will be a school prom a fortnight on Saturday. The principal reminds everyone to wear appropriate outfits, and to behave, or you'll be banned from coming.'

There are some excited murmurs, and I question Grian about it. He replies that it's nothing to worry about.

'Now, in terms of fighting, go with your roommate. If anyone's absent, stay here and I'll partner you with someone else.' Me and Grian look at each other, grin, and run off to grab weapons. Soon, we're both armoured up, holding swords with golden apples and healing potions close at hand.

'Ready?'

'You bet.'

So we fight. I already knew I was a bad fighter, but I didn't expect Grian to be as good as he is Ducking, dodging, desperately avoiding his blows. I block with my shield, falling backwards and aiming flew hasty hits back at him. One lands solidly on his shoulder, and he stumbles away, surprised.

'Didn't expect that now did you?' I gloat. He's instantly on the offensive again, and I have to dodge quickly to avoid his ambush. I stab, dodge, parrying a hit that might've hit me directly in the neck if I hadn't. A moment to eat my golden apple, using the strength of the only legal magic to stab back. Grian's shield takes the blow, close to breaking. I slice again, before switching to my bow and shooting.

'Hawkeye!' I yell in excitement, hitting him right in the side. There's a laugh back as Grian drinks his healing potion, slicing back. I somehow block in time, but still stumble, falling over. Getting up quickly, I manage to shoot Grian a few more times with matching hawkeye-s to go with it. Suddenly, I feel an arrow shot from behind, bouncing harmlessly off my armor and turn to see Cub, waving at me from afar, Jimmy recovering next to him. I wave back, waiting for his back to be turned to shoot back.

'Focus, Hawkeye!' I turn to see Grian's sword barely miss me, letting out a surprised yell. I slice back a few more times, not getting much of an advantage as he quickly defeats me, hitting me to the ground where I'm stuck panting.

'I... I definitely won that.' Is all I say as he helps me to my feet.

'Alright, Hawkeye. I'll let you believe that.'

'I would've beaten you if the... floor hadn't tripped me.'

'The floor tripped you.'

'Yes.'

'Alright then. Maybe the floor won.'

'The floor did not win!' I protest. 'I won! I'm better than you.'

Another arrow from Cub proves me wrong, and I miss my shot back, almost hitting Ren instead.

I then frown, wondering why Scott isn't here. He's one of the best PvPers in the class, and he seemed alright in redstone class yesterday.

And then I remember what Impulse told him.

I'll tell the principal you have magic.
