MACIE WATCHED FROM THE WINDOW AS JIM CLEANED OUT THE BYERS' SHED AND PREPARED IT.

"What the hell is going on?" Marcie hissed at her younger step sister,

All she knew was that these mutated dog things were out to get them... for some reason.

"Will's mind is possessed by the Mind-Flayer. He's a spy for him, unintentionally, and that's why the demo-dogs are after us. Because as long as Will knows where we are, so do they." Dustin explained,

"And what's a demo-dog? Or a Mind-Flayer?"

The boys glanced at each other, "Long story short? Inter-dimensional monsters." Mike answered,

Macie stared at them for a moment, "What the fuck?"

They all worked together to cover the shed in sheets and fabric, making it unrecognisable for Will. Once they were finished, Johnathan went to grab his little brother, setting him in the chair they left in the shed and they tied him up with cable wires.

The boys set up spotlights, aiming them down at Will, hoping the lights would keep him from seeing too much of the shed.

Mike and Johnathan stayed in the shed with Joyce and Will. Macie wanted to stay, but Jim convinced her to go into the house and look after the other kids.

Eventually, she nodded and went into the house.

While they waited, Macie walked around the home, studying the crayon drawing that were hung up in every room, attached to each other.

"Hey..." Nancy walked over to her, "Are you okay?"

She kept her eyes on the drawings, "What have we gotten ourselves into?"

The lights in the house began to flicker and Macie tensed.

The door burst open and Jim stepped inside. He grabbed an open letter from the pile of mail by the doorway and grabbed a pen before sitting down and writing,

"What happened?" Dustin asked,

"I think he's talking, just not with words." Jim explained as everyone gathered around the table,

They all stared at the dots and lines that he drew on the paper and began translating it, "What is that?" Steve asked,

"Morse code." All the boys answered at once,

"H-E-R-E." Jim stated,

"Here." A few of them said at the same time,

Jim dropped the pen, "Will's still in there. He's talking to us."

With that, they came up with a system. Johnathan grabbed a few tapes and his stereo before him, Joyce, Mike, and Jim went back out to the shed, sending the sheriff with a radio.

Jim would send the morse code through the radio back to the kids in the house, who then would translate it.

"Close gate."

The phone began to ring and they panicked. Macie ran to the landline and picked up the phone and slammed it back onto the receiver, "What's the chance that he heard that?"

The phone rang again and she repeated the action before Nancy took the phone off the wall and threw it onto the floor,

"It's just a phone. It could be anywhere... right?" Steve replied,

In the distance, they heard howls. Macie wrapped an arm around Max and gulped nervously,

"That's not good." Dustin commented,

Macie let go of Max and went outside to her car, grabbing the shotgun from the passenger seat. Jim rushed over to her, grabbing her hand, "What are you doing?"

"Grabbing the gun!" She hissed as he dragged her back towards the house, his own rifle in his other hand.

"Yours loaded?" He asked her as they entered the kitchen,

She checked it, "Yeah." Macie nodded,

Jim let go of her hand to check his rifle and grabbed another gun from a room, "Hey, hey! Get away from the windows." He ordered the kids, who were staring out into the front yard,

He held out his rifle towards Johnathan, "Do you know how to use this?"

"What?" The teenager looked panicked,

"Can you use this?"

Nancy stepped forward, "I can." Jim tossed it to her and she placed the butt of it onto her shoulder,

They all aimed towards the windows, waiting for the demo-dogs.

"Where are they?" Max asked, worry laced in her voice,

The growling got louder and Macie made sure to push the younger girl behind her. They could hear the grunting outside the door and tension filled the air.

Macie placed a finger over the trigger, ready to fire,

"What are they doing?" Nancy asked as the bushed outside began to shake,

Snarling and groaning was heard outside the house, moving from the door to the windows. Something else was outside. Something more dangerous.

A demo-dog flew through the window and Macie let out a scream, as did many other others. Once it rolled to a stop, they noticed that the monster was dead. Something had killed it.

"Holy shit." Dustin whispered as Jim approached it,

"Is it dead?" Max asked,

Jim kicked it and it limply rolled over. There was a creak coming from outside the front door and they turned in time to see the deadbolt unlock.

The group raised their weapons again as the door slowly swung open.

Macie lowered the gun as a young girl stepped in, around the same age as the boys. Her short, dark hair was slicked back and she had dark makeup around her eyes.

Not to mention, her nose was bleeding.

Mike stepped forward and Macie glanced around. Most of them seemed to recognise her.

They know her.
