MACIE SIGHED AS SHE walked toward the front door of the police station. Her bruises on her arms had faded enough over the weekend from her father. He wasn't happy about the dent on her car.
She pulled her bag closer to her and walked up to the front desk where there was an older lady with curly grey/brown hair and glasses, "Hi, excuse me, I'm here to see Chief Hopper?" Macie asked,
"He hasn't come in yet. Why don't you take a seat, dear." The woman pointed to a row of chairs across from her,
"He told me 9am." Macie looked down at her watch that read 9:02.
"Yeah, he tells people a lot of things. I'm sure he'll be here within the hour." Macie sighed before sitting down and waiting.
And waiting.
Finally, the doors opened and Hopper entered the building. Macie looked down at her watch that read 9:57.
Once he came in, the secretary, Macie learned that her name was Flo, gave him messages that came while he was out and Hopper sighed, "Fine, yeah, I'll get on that."
"And you have someone waiting for you." Flo pointed at the blonde and Hopper turned to look at her,
"Oh, yeah, forgot you were supposed to be here."
Macie raised her eyebrows, "Clearly."
"Hey, you're the one who hit my car, kid." Hopper responded,
She stood and crossed her arms, "Yet, I'm still here, on time."
"Whatever." He took the cigarette out of his mouth, "C'mon."
Hopper led her to his office, letting her in before sitting down and putting his boots on the desk. He stared at her, eating his donut,
Macie sighed, "Are you going to continue to sit there and be a stereotypical sheriff or are you gonna tell me why I'm here?"
Hopper sat up and placed his elbows on the desk, "Mornings are for coffee and contemplation, I always say." He set the donut down, "And you know why you're here."
"Yeah, but are you gonna give me my assignment or whatever? Pick up trash in the park, walk some dogs, mow lawns?" She questioned,
He smirked and pointed at her, "You are gonna be my new secretary."
Macie widened her eyes, "What?"
"Temporarily, until you worked all the damage off." Jim rolled his eyes, "Flo's going on leave for a while at the end of the month. This place can't run without her."
"If she's not leaving until the end of the month why am I here now?" She asked,
"You need to be trained in, kid. You think Flo's got it easy?" Jim smirked,
She glared at him, "You got to be kidding me."
"Flo!" The older woman walked in, "This is... uh..."
The blonde turned to glare at him again, "You don't even know my name?!"
"C'mon, kid, help me out here."
She rolled her eyes before standing up and shaking Flo's hand, "Macie Hargrove."
"Yeah, uh, Macie here is gonna replace you when you go on leave on the 30th. You mind showin' her the ropes?" Hopper asked,
