IT WAS 9 AM when Macie sat behind the desk in the Hawkins Police station, writing a note to remind herself to pick Max up from the arcade after her shift.
She was extremely bored. There had been no calls yet that morning and the deputy boys were still sitting at their desks, 'doing' their paperwork.
Suddenly she heard the door open, "Trust me. I only want five minutes!"
"Yeah, I want a date with Bo Derek." She heard Hopper say, "We all want things."
Macie noticed the cigarette between his lips and she immediately grabbed it from him. He gave her a look saying 'get me out of this'.
"Morning, Murray." Macie smiled before walking back to her desk and putting the butt out.
Murray gave her a small nod, "This isn't a laughing matter, Jim. This is serious, okay?" Jim groaned and walked over to the table where Macie laid out snacks for everyone, "I really got something here. I'm telling you!"
"Hey. Mornin', Chief." Powell smirked from his desk, "Morning, Murray."
"Got any proof on your butt-probin' aliens yet, Murray?" Callahan asked and Macie hid her smile behind her hand as Powell laughed,
"I believe there was, and may still be, a Russian spy presence in Hawkins." Murray stated, ignoring the deputies,
"Russian spies!" Hopper laughed as Macie grabbed the doughnut from his hand and gave him an apple instead,
He gave her a small glare, "Gotta watch the blood sugar, mister." Macie smirked, also handing him his coffee,
"Are the spies in cahoots with the aliens? Or how do they fit in here? I'm confused." Callahan grinned,
"I'm talking multiple reports now. Multiple reports, okay? Of a Russian child in Hawkins." Murray said,
"A child? What are you talking about?" Hopper questioned,
"A girl who may have psionic abilities." He continued,
""Psionic"?" Powell asked,
"Psychic." Macie clarified and the deputies stared back at her, "What? I did graduate from community college, you know."
"What about that girl that made that kid pee himself?" Callahan asked,
"A prank." Hopper stated,
"What girl?" Murray and Macie asked at the same time,
"Wasn't a prank-" Callahan started but Hopper interrupted,
"You got five minutes. Not a second more." He told Murray as they walked back to his office.
Macie turned to the deputies, "What girl?"
"Last year, this girl with a shaved head made a kid pee himself and broke his arm." Powell explained, "But we never knew who this girl was. Never found her."
"A child doesn't just disappear," Macie stated, but before she could continue a call came through, "Hawkins Police, how can I help you?"
She wrote down all the information given to her from the caller and quickly hung up before calling Jim, "Merrill called. He wants you to check out his pumpkins. Says they've been contaminated by his vengeful neighbour, Eugene." Macie smirked, "You owe me lunch."
"Yeah, whatever, kid."
"Oh! And remember you have a meeting with Joyce at 12:30 today. So, after you're done, you can pick up something for me." Macie grinned.
"You like healthy stuff, right?" He asked over the phone,
Macie scoffed, "Wow, Jim. I can eat a burger. I'll see you later."
