Kate's POV:

"Well..."

"So, what is it? You're kind of scaring me, Y/n," I chuckle nervously.

"I want to open up to you. I want to tell you something that only three people in this world know about. Wanda, myself, and...and them..."

"Who's 'them'?" I cock my head to the side in confusion.

"The person that destroyed my love life..." Y/n sighs.

"Oh. Well, you don't need to tell me if you don't want to. It's up to you. Whatever you want to do," I assure her.

"No. No, I need to tell you..." Y/n looks down and twirls her thumbs about nervously. "After I turned fifteen, I got my first girlfriend. We were together for a year, and then we both turned sixteen. Unsurprisingly, we slept together soon after we hit that age.

"Our relationship was going brilliantly...until we moved in together. We both got jobs, and money became a problem, and quite a big one, too.

"We still went on strong, until she became..." She takes in a big gulp. "Until she became abusive. It started as mental abuse. But it then became physical abuse, too. Not one day passed without me getting leathered and passing out. Or waking up in the hospital.

"It took seven months for me to finally tell Wanda. But she didn't believe me. It wasn't her fault, it was ridiculous. But then one day, Wanda walked in when it was happening.

"Wanda promised to always believe me from that day on. We've been best friends ever since. Wanda was my saviour, and she still is. With each passing day, Wanda proves to me more and more that I can trust her with my life. And I do.

"I guess our relationship never matured with us. We tried to act like we were still kids, but the truth is, we were bound to break up. One way or another, we'd divide. I just wish that it happened a different way... But I am glad that she never got hurt."

"That..." Tears well up in my eyes and I pull Y/n in for a hug. She's been threw so much. So, so much. What can I do for her? Nothing... We sit there in silence, crying into each other's shoulders.

I eventually break the silence, "I'm sorry. I'm so, so, incredibly sorry. No one should have to go threw that. Especially someone as amazing as you!"

"Don't apologize. You did nothing wrong. I guess something like that happens to every relationship. Just some are worse than others."

"That is not true! Some relationships work. You just have to search for it," I soothe her.

"Hm. It's like what I always say. 'Don't cross the oceans for someone who wouldn't even cross a puddle for yourself. Cross the oceans to find the person who will join you on your journey back home - who is your home. They're the true keeper. They'll make you happy. They are your true love.'"

"That's beautiful... Have you always been so wise?" I ask in wonderment, tears strong-arming my eyes again.

"Some say so... Others say I'm a devotee. Others, a bonehead. I consider that I'm all combined," she responds.

"Oh, so wise. I just wish you didn't go threw that. It must have been so traumatic."

"That's what my therapist says. He also says I'm rather sapient. You're quite alike," she simpers at me.

"Sorry to disturb your conversation, Agent Bishop, Agent Y/ln. But it is dinner time now. Can you assemble down in the common area, please?" J.A.R.V.I.S. pleas.

"Hey, what does J.A.R.V.I.S. stand for? I was wondering," I inquire.

"Oh, it means 'Just A Rather Very Intelligent System'. Stark thought of it," I explain. "Parker has E.D.I.T.H. which stands for 'Even Dead I'm The Hero'. Oh, and F.R.I.D.A.Y. stands for 'Female Replacement Intelligent Digital Assistant Youth'. But F.R.I.D.A.Y. hasn't been used since we got J.A.R.V.I.S. back. But Tony is trying to put her in his suit."

"Ah, none of them are that catchy. Well, except E.D.I.T.H. That's catchy. We should head downstairs before J.A.R.V.I.S. has a go at us," I chuckle, standing up.

"Don't worry. A barking dog never bites. Remember that one. And use it in your battles. Physical and verbal. But we still should, I guess. I'm kinda peckish," Y/n announces, pulling her body up to a stand.

We head downstairs and everyone is already there. "Ah! Lady Y/n, Lady Kate. We thought you'd never make it! Take a seat, grab a plate," Thor greets us.

I turn to get my food and I notice Y/n's face twitching ever so slightly. I walk to her and whisper. "Oh, my god. You hate Thor, don't you?"

"Very much so. He is so bothersome. Strongest Avenger my ass," she chortles, handing me a plate of food.

"Smells delightful. Thank you." We turn around and take our seats. Y/n is next to Wanda and I'm next to Y/n.

We all get talking before Nat speaks up, "Y/ln, Maximoff, stop speaking telepathically. Be a part of the group."

"Huh? Oh, yeah. After all these years, I still can't fathom how you can tell when we're doing that," Y/n chuckles.

"I'm an ex-assassin, remember? Best in the business," Nat simpers at Wanda and Y/n and they roll their eyes at a synchronized speed.

Once we finish dinner, we all go on our separate ways. I ask Y/n if we can continue talking, but she has paperwork - to my dismay. I wanted to talk a bit more. I walk to my room and lay down on my bed.

What a day! Y/n has finally opened up to me. I hope our relationship only evolves.

My eyes slowly shut and I drift off to a night of dreams, filled with Y/n.
